Season 4 of "Better Call Saul" is pretty trippy if you were a super fan of "Breaking Bad" with a great memory.  The two shows have now completely crossed over and the events of Season 4's "Saul" are occurring during BB's Season 1.

This week, we cold open with a flash-forward that actually occurred during BB's final season where Saul and his secretary are shredding documents and Saul has a black eye from when Jesse punched him.  Saul uses what we now know is his real name, Jimmy, in the scene.  All other flash-forwards have occurred after the events of BB, so this is the first time you see Saul in the middle of the BB universe during his own show.

Later in the episode, in the regular timeline of "Saul", Jimmy sells cell phones at the Dog House, which is where Jesse was selling meth in Season 1 of BB.  Jesse then brings Walt a prepaid phone later in that BB episode, which we now know he bought from Jimmy/Saul at that location.  So their paths crossed off-screen during this week's "Saul".  Jimmy/Saul winds up getting mugged by 3 teens and loses all the money that he made selling the phones.  You need the greatest memory ever or the help of the Internet to put this together because it was not explained, although the Dog House set is somewhat memorable.

It should be noted that Saul doesn't show up in BB until Season 2 as a recurring character, then becomes a main character in Season 3.  If they're using the same measure of time, that means within 2 seasons the shows will need to be completely integrated, although I suspect they'll wrap the show up before then.

Now that we know that Season 4 of "Saul" takes place during Season 1 of BB, you can look out for more subtle cross-overs in every future episode.  I have to admit, they were pretty patient waiting this long before starting to do this, and you can still enjoy "Saul " for what it is even if you don't catch the BB references.  But reading Internet reviews is now essential if you want to catch every Easter egg.  The attention to detail is insane.

My prediction is "Better Call Saul" will end at the moment the scene in which Saul and Walter first met in person begins or is about to begin. This would complete the integration of the shows and give Bryan Cranston the chance to do a cameo.

They need to wrap up the flash forward sequences too so we know what ultimately happens to him after he becomes a Cinnabun manager, and I hope they do in a satisfying way.

I'm wondering if once they're caught up to BB, will they go current with him working at Cinnabun.

Also, this season is probably the fastest one of the show. Great stuff so far.

I think she has to wind up dead like his brother. He needs to have no one left by the time he goes full Saul.

We have thought that but also, that she just leaves one day.  She’s starting to burn out.

I think they end the show once they get caught up with BB.

We don’t know anything about sauls home life, so Kim potentially could still be around. She bores me to death so I hope she leaves him or is killed off.

To me the show is still super slow, and the jimmy Kim moments are far less interesting than Gus and Nacho. I wish they had done Gus’ rise to power instead of Sauls history as the premise for the show.

And this week we get a 5 second Huell sighting. Who was the other guy though? Should we know him?

In the season finale that aired on Monday, Jimmy gets his law license back and in the last scene asks for paperwork to change his name.  When his girlfriend asks what he's doing, the last line of the season is "Don't worry.  It's all good, man."  So next season, we're in full "Saul Goodman" mode.  Not sure how much farther they can take this.

Yeah, I give it at least one or two more seasons. It left off pretty suspenseful. I'm dying to see how Lalo is dealt with by Gus. I'm curious to see the further transformation of Saul Goodman.
