On Wednesday’s CNN Tonight with Don Lemon, the host responded to criticisms he received earlier in the week for comments he made while discussing a recent Kentucky grocery store shooting with Chris Cuomo on Cuomo Prime Time.

“We have to stop demonizing people and realize the biggest terror threat in this country is white men, most of them radicalized to the right, and we have to start doing something about them,” Lemon told Cuomo on Monday.

But after backlash began in various right wing circles from those comments, Lemon doubled-down on the sentiment.

“Let’s put emotion aside and look at the cold, hard facts. The evidence is overwhelming,” Lemon said on Wednesday.

He included stats from places like The Government Accountability Office, The Washington Post and The Anti-Defamation League to back up his point that the vast majority of deadly attacks in this country over the past couple of decades were carried out by far right violent extremists.

Lemon’s comments came Wednesday night despite a CNN spokeswoman saying earlier in the day that neither Lemon nor the network would speak more about it.

And while the criticism of Lemon will undoubtedly continue, he will undoubtedly keep doing what he does.

“So people who were angered about what I said are missing the entire point,” Lemon concluded Wednesday. “We don’t need to worry about people who are thousands of miles away. The biggest threats are homegrown. The facts prove that.”

“We need to stop demonizing people.”

“The biggest terror threat in this country is white men.”

So when he says we have to stop demonizing people, he didn’t even complete his sentence before he started demonizing people. And then he wonders why Trump wins.

I might get what he is saying.
It`s a bit like the modern Antifa talking point that increasingly you have heard. You see, here in Germany approximately one homeless person each year is murdered by an outright neonazi. I believe the timeframe for that is post 1990, they didn`t have statistics like that prior. This of course means that conservatives will always decry left wing violence, who have killed just about zero homeless people in that timeframe.
Hardcore conservative / nationalist crime is often enough ignored, only once they begin to kill police does the police notice that it might even be a slight problem. Because this time they might die. Why can`t they just keep on killing homeless people, as they are supposed to...
So yeah, nationalist terrorism is tremendously ignored, worldwide that is. You better not be such a victim in a foreign country, there won`t be much justice done if the perpetrator is just a good ol`patriot.

Some truth to his statements, no doubt.

The radical white male mindset has been brewing for decades, but the pink elephant in the room that they do not want to acknowledge is that much of this type of thinking has been established by the transitioning economy which made it much more difficult for the middle class to survive as we went from an industrial economy with good wages and benefits to a service economy led by corporate policies.

It has been much easier to blame other races, immigrants and things like affirmative action instead of realizing and focusing on the real issues that are causing this assault on the middle class.

He should have just said Americans. They kill each other at a much higher rate than other civilized nations.

I could see the way he presented it as being considered racist.  I still think it is a valid contention for some sector of American white males.

Even ignoring the racist part of it, it’s the sort of obvious pseudo-intellectual statement that only sounds smart when you compare it to the rantings of the vilest and stupidest Americans, like the president. Like no shit those closest to home are the biggest threats. Logistically speaking, that’s kind of the way it goes. It’s not like white men are the problem with domestic terrorism in Iraq. Worldwide domestic terrorism is a much bigger problem and it’s almost never white men. But in America, yeah that would make sense bring that we have a lot of white men here. We’re handing out pats on the back to morons saying moronic things that are slightly less moronic than cousin Billy Bob who thinks he’s not an engineer making $150,000 solely because a Mexican is standing outside Home Depot.  How about we raise the bar since Don Lemon clearly isn’t a Mensa member either.

If you change a few words and have a white guy deliver that message claiming black men are our greatest threat, society would lose it's collective minds.

We live in a society today where people have to apologize for being born white. At least here in Canada it seems so.
It is true that most of the mass shootings seem to be committed by caucasian nutjobs it isn't limited to them.
Last week at the University of Manitoba someone posted a bunch of "It's ok to be white" posters all over campus and people lost their shit.
It is ok to be white just like it's ok for a negro to wear a black is beautiful shirt or an Indian to wear something related to their native band.
By that kind of thinking I could decide that I find a new wearing a yarmulke in public offensive or East Indians wearing turbans as offensive.
Society is completely fucked. We're tearing down statues of people who lived 200 hundred years ago trying to equate today's standards to a completely different era in history.
John A McDonald gets his statue torn down all across Canada while the Metis and Indians go on and on about how great Louis Riel was because they choose to selectively interpret history.

He's right, but was wrong to say it the way he did, if that makes any sense. America is kinda fucked up that way

You can find lots of angry people everywhere in American regardless of race or gender all you have to do is listen to those around you.

I’d be curious to see the following statistics compiled and charted. If it’s already out there please post a link.

Mass shootings per year
Unemployed % of US college graduates at that time
Economic status of the attackers at that time
% of US population diagnosed with mental illness at that time

Or something like these.

I feel that their is something bigger that is driving these actions. I don’t think it’s just blind hate. I think their is a hopelessness or despair about the future that makes people not care.
