Raw kicked off tonight with Rollins calling out Corbin and basically giving voice to the fans by saying they Raw sucks and no one is watching anymore. Rollins specifically said that “ratings are at an all-time low”. Of course Corbin as GM was blamed in kayfabe world. Rollins went through the list of real-life smark complaints, from childish urination segments, to young talent like The Revival getting buried, to Lesnar never defending the title on Raw, to Corbin himself blathering on in long boring segments. Rollins ended the segment by challenging Corbin to a TLC match tonight to spice up ratings.

The ironic part is that this segment itself was kind of long and boring, so Vince knows what’s wrong but is incapable of fixing it. I kept expecting Vince himself to come out and fire Corbin (Vince does think he’s ratings gold), but that didn’t happen (yet).

Then the very first match is a handicap match where the champions lose the title when their manager is pinned. Vince knows what we want more than we do.

What do today’s fans want?

My son is 10 and wants to see Braun, Balor, Braun, Braun, AJ sometimes and loved seeing that guy pee his pants. He could give a shit about 205 live, he thought he wanted to see Mixed Match till he saw some of it and didn’t care for it. Has no interest in watching old wrestling but if the E ran a promo tonight for a returning Savio Vega he would want to know all about him.

I don’t want any of that but I’m not a fan of Raw or Smackdown and the things I am a fan of (NXT and ROH) I can hardly find time for anymore.

That was actually them GIVING the fans what they want.  Michael Cole started shouting that it was a "new era", which was mostly hilarious because the thought of anyone caring about Roode and Gable and the Tag belts that much after the way they've all been beat down is laughable, but also because they didn't realize that having Rockstar Spud pinned in a handicap match is the worst way to transfer the titles in a meaningful way.  Vince genuinely doesn't know that, and no one wants to tell him.

Vince might have watched WrestleMania 5 on the network while in transit and said “that’s it; this demolition v POP and Fuji match is awesome let’s do something like this tonight!!!”

Only difference there is Demolition was defending against three guys. Fuji was on the challengers side, and POP still fucking lost :)

Also, and we are going far too deep into this, Fuji has some credibility as a former tag team champion and devious master of the salt gimmick. In WWE, Maverick is the tiny GM who wears a bow tie. They did give him a namecheck as Spud on his first appearance, but he's been pushed as a former wrestler.

Even based on his TNA gimmick, it's not like Spud has credibility as an in-ring performer.  I have no problem with him being booked as a cowardly heel.  He does it well.  I do think it's absurd that on 205 Live he's still a babyface commissioner simultaneously though.  And it doesn't really fit anyone's gimmick for him to be with the AOP.  They should certainly fire and destroy him next week for costing them the belts.

And Roode and Gable can only be salvaged if they're put into a feud with The Revival and are allowed to have NXT-style matches with them over these titles.  I'm not holding my breath.  Rollins mentioned The Revival as specifically being held down as a shoot comment since they're heels and he's a face, and then they followed that up by...not having The Revival on the show again.

And this week’s episode of Raw lost another 100,000 viewers to set a new worst viewership record ever.

The WWE Chronicle episode on Becky Lynch that was uploaded to the Network today is fantastic. This is the kind of thing they should be showing on Raw (maybe not 22 minutes worth, but this style of programming). Instead, we're going to get Vince McMahon having a senior moment live on TV on Monday night, standing in the ring, talking, the same old shit for the past 20 years.

Raw used to regularly have amazing recap packages (that made even boring feuds seem epic), music videos, profiles, and other touches by WWE’s production team that was top notch. Then one day they just stopped with all of that.

Watching Raw on a delay. The show starts with Vince, Shane, Stephanie, and HHH all coming out and basically admitting that the show has gotten boring and promising to shake things up and give the fans new stars, new match-ups, etc. in the coming weeks and months. They all oddly claim that they’ll be more hands-on, which sounds more like a threat than a promise. I really doubt that they know how to fix this.

And then they show they don’t by having Baron Corbin come out and have one of those really long and boring exchanges where he tries to talk and gets booed and goes back and forth with the fans and it took forever to get to the point we knew they were getting to. Corbin says he was screwed last night and wants to be permanent GM. All 4 say no but Vince eventually says he can get one more chance if he can beat Angle. Stephanie then announces Heath Slater as special referee. So this ground-breaking segment to change the direction of Raw involves...Slater? HHH then makes it a handicap match and Roode, Gable, and Crews come out. Oh great, Slater and Crews. Now we’re rocking. Shane makes it no-DQ and they all hit him with chairs.

Of course Angle pins Corbin to finally end this massacre. It was a 35-minute segment spanning 2 commercial breaks. I don’t see how this is going to pop a rating.

Later on announced was the NXT call-ups of EC3, Heavy Machinery, Lacey Evans, and Nikki Cross, joining Lars Sullivan who was already on the way before these panic moves.

I was watching the opening segment too.  Was I not paying attention, or did the first commercial break come in very awkwardly during the back and forth segment with Corbin?

Vignette that “Kevin Owens Returns Soon”. I hope they’re not rushing him back, but they clearly are trying to load up the show as best they can.
