I'll say Seattle at 8-5 should get wildcard spot #1

the last one? You tell me.

Minnesota 6-6-1
Carolina 6-7
Philly 6-7
Green Bay 5-7-1
NY Giants 5-8

Green Bay has tremendous luck, but also lost the season series to the Vikings 1-0-1, so if the Vikings and Packers have the same record, the Vikes get the tiebreaker. On that basis and the schedules of the other contenders, barring a continued meltdown, I see the Vikings getting the final wildcard spot.

Packers have 3 road games to end the season and suck out loud on the road. I love the Packers but the smart pick is the Vikings.

I will go out on a limb and say the Eagles. I just have a feeling that Foles will get hot like last year and get it done. And I can't help but think how different this race would be if the Panthers didn't hit a 62 yard FG to beat the Giants back at the beginning of October.

Minnesota definitely has the inside track. Best record. Carolina in freefall and have two games left vs New Orleans. Vikings hold tie-breaker over Philly and Green Bay.

I'm sticking with Philly - yesterday was classic and the momentum built with the Super Bowl Champion Eagles is a dangerous thing for their opponents. Getting hot in December is the time to do it.

This is a big weekend for the NFL. Of the 16 games on the slate, 14 of them have playoff ramifications for at least one team with regard to wildcard qualification, division titles, and seeding. Of the 14, there are 5 games in which there are playoff implications for both teams. Only Packers at Jets and Broncos at Raiders, the latter unfortunately being the Monday night game, are games in which both teams have been eliminated.

The latter game at least has the intrigue of possibly being the last Raiders game at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. The city and county are suing the Raiders and the NFL to recover yet to be recouped costs of upgrading the stadium for the Raiders' 1995 return. The Raiders have no lease for 2019, but the new Las Vegas stadium won't open until 2020, so the Raiders are discussing playing across the Bay at AT&T Stadium, the 49ers are prepared to have them as a tenant at Levi's Stadium, and UNLV's outgoing Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas is a possibility too.

Raiders had a deal with the city of Oakland for next year. 7.5 mil for the last year. When Oakland decided to sue the Raiders , owner Mark Davis , pulled it off the table. Said he isn't gonna pay Oakland to sue him.

The problem is now the Raiders have no place to play and they aren't likely to find a deal as good as the one they're walking away from although I understand why Davis is doing that. The Raiders don't want to go to Vegas before the new stadium opens because Sam Boyd Stadium would need millions to get it up to NFL standards for things like the locker rooms, media facilities, fan facilities, and so on. That would be good money after bad because UNLV and the Las Vegas Bowl are moving to the Raiders' new stadium as well with Sam Boyd Stadium then slated to be torn down. The Raiders also don't want to debut in Vegas at a college stadium that would be very low frills by NFL standards and the opposite of the big bang they hope to get from their new home venue.

The 49ers are prepared to host the Raiders for 2019, and if necessary 2020 although the new stadium is on schedule, but the Raiders have shown zero interest in this obvious solution. Memorial Stadium at Cal would be a tough one to swing for a variety of reasons, especially traffic and parking related. AT&T Stadium is in the running apparently although the location is highly inconvenient for the team's soon to be abandoned local fan base. I've heard San Antonio and San Diego bandied about which would make little sense from a practical manner. The Raiders wouldn't relocate their operations to either place and the players would not move there. This would amount to a struggling team playing what amounts to 16 road games next season.

The Panthers have shut down Cam Newton for the season. They've gone from 6-2 to 6-8 and might be 6-10 when it's all over. They're mathematically still alive for the playoffs, but have little realistic chance. The team doesn't have the same ownership as in the Super Bowl 50 season of 2015, so Ron Rivera is likely a goner as head coach after the season due to this meltdown.

Anyway, yeah. Philly deserves to be in.

To show how a season can rise and fall, the Vikings tied the Packers after missing three FGs during the game including two in OT and one as time expired in OT. Had one FG been good and the Vikes won, they'd be in the playoffs and the Eagles would be on the couch.

That ain't nothing compared to the 2013 Niners season. Niners would of hosted the NFC Championship game that season vs. Seattle. But if not for BOTH the Fail Mary AND the bad call on Ahmed Brooks against Drew Brees. Niners were hosed, AND they outplayed the Seahawks in Seattle and were hosed by the refs anyway in the game...and I'm a Jet and Raider fan.

The Navarro Bowman Rule, Tuck Rule, total bullshit.

If only the Chiefs could play the Raiders 16 times a year. Time to get rid of David Carr.

4 weeks ago the Eagles had a 12% chance of making the playoffs. They had to beat both the Rams and Texans and needed the Vikes to fall apart. Back then, a couple of other teams needed to fall apart as well.

I cannot believe it actually happened. Once again, with Nick Foles.

I fucking told all of you the Eagles would make it, and once Foles came in I was absolutely certain. That is a very, very dangerous team right now. They already beat the Rams, so they don’t fear anybody that’s in front of them. I will stick my neck out and predict they go back to the Super Bowl but with an asterisk...that being, if Foles continues to play. I don’t have the same Super Bowl faith in Wentz simply because there’s no way his back will be 100% between now and February.
