Tonight Vince, dressed as Santa, gave WWE fans a could of “presents”. The first is the long-awaited announcement of Women’s Tag titles coming in 2019. The second is the return of John Cena to a more active schedule competing on both Raw and Smackdown. Cena is such a hopeless company man that I guess Vince begging him to help the ratings did the trick. Not exactly a new direction though.

Meh, the Women's tag titles have been talked about for a while now, and what can Cena do now that he hasn't done already?
If Vince wants to pop a rating, he should try to find a way to get CM Punk to come in.

Punk’s not willing and Cena is. The ratings took their most recent dive after Reigns got sick, and before that they went down when Cena left, so no one should be surprised that Vince made that call.

I always figured Cena would be a regular to semi regular for Mania season. After that he might hang until the April PPV, but then I'd expect him to be away for a while.

When Cena comes back what will they do with him? Is he going to put people over or is he going to beat Rusev for the US title in a flag match at the next PPV.

Is he going to be the NXT call up killer?

Before he was putting guys over. But now, I’m willing to bet he gets the old Cena Superman push because Vince is getting desperate. His first night back will be the New Year’s Day Smackdown next week. This “new direction” is all about the McMahons and Cena again, the only people Vince trusts.

I don’t know if it would have made a huge difference but they should have put the belt on Braun. I think they’ve gone to long now and it won’t be the same even when they do.

There’s no doubt about this. Also, Vince finally realizes they need to get the belt off Lesnar and back on Raw every week, but it’s too late to give it to anyone where it will mean something. I know the plan likely was for Reigns to be holding the title all this time, but I’m sorry, no excuses, shit happens and WWE had years to develop new talent and refused to do so. Now there is literally no one left to give a rub.

Also, the return of CM Punk improved the ratings.

The answer wound up being Becky Lynch in Week One. More proof that they’re going full steam ahead with Rousey vs. Lynch to main event WM.

LOL. Not exactly. He “put her over”. Cena came out and did his usual promo and then challenged anyone to step up to him. Becky came out to a monster pop and owned him in a promo battle. She was basically going to kick his ass when they were interrupted by Almas and Zelina. This led to a mixed tag match where Becky stole the win from Cena and then refused to shake his hand after they won. They made Cena her bitch the entire night. She was the anti-hero to his cartoon babyface and the crowd loved it. The segment was very obviously designed to make her the top star of the brand and was Becky’s most Austin-like performance yet.

Did anyone else think with that new hair that Cena kind of looks like JBL now ?
