I assume the Jesse one from AWA 1983 is the blooper version of the intro of Mr. Saito as his tag partner. At least I hope so, that one is a riot.

Curious which Bock interview(s) they used as well. Hopefully something fresh.

When I was watching this live last night, it appeared a large number of individuals in the audience were shown taking videos with their phone rather than going crazy cheering, especially when he was about to come out on the stage.
Screaming through your phone video kinda ruins it, so maybe that was one factor.\

It has two versions of the same promo in that video. The second one is the blooper. It's a great example of an unscripted promo with bullet points. Both Jesse's promos are different, but they hit the same beats.

Any idea how that ever saw the light of day?  Just too good not to share and no one thinks it's real anymore so we may as well?

I think his time away and looking around at how many friends have passed has really gotten to him the past couple years. I think Savage and Warrior dying hit him hard but I think this was the toughest blow for him.
I agree, and I was impressed that he was able to turn it on for his promo when he had been in tears seconds earlier.  He stumbled a little, but it was a decent facsimile of an '80s Hogan promo.  When he started rattling off the guys who died who were all contemporaries, I thought the same thing that Hogan is almost one of the last men standing of the top stars from that era, and I think that effected him a lot.

I heard that he and Beefcake reconciled within the last year after many years of not being on speaking terms anymore (I have no idea why they fell out), so Hogan is hopefully at the point in his life where he's making amends.
I apologize for piggybacking, but I agree with all of this. Almost started to cry, to be honest.

After Bret called him on his doubt, Gene persisted in suggesting El Dandy was unworthy of a US Title shot at Bret which led the Hitman to let off another awesome, but forgotten, zinger, saying "Okay, what about Hypnosis then?"

I don’t care what anyone says, from 1996 on Bret was a great promo. Not good, great. And he usually didn’t sound like he was cutting a promo, he was just talking, which is exactly why he was so good.

Little known fact. Gene Okerlund was the first man offered a guaranteed contract in the AWA, then owned by Verne Gagne.

I watched this last night.  I believe this was originally shown on the first Titan Sports VHS tape I ever rented.  I'm not sure if it ever aired anywhere else.  The production value for it was terrible even by 1984 standards.  It almost looks like a fan-cam and when fans raise their arms to cheer it partially blocks the shot.  There are no different camera angles or zoom-ins.  It's like you're in the cheap seats watching the action from afar with Vince doing a very obvious voice-over months later.

It's a fun match for what it is and Gene hits his few spots perfectly.  You'd think that at some point over the next 5 years Gene would've joked in an interview with Mr. Fuji that he once pinned him, but I can't recall this match ever being acknowledged on WWF TV at any point.  Of course I just might not remember, but it seems like it was exclusively for the MN market and then they slapped it on a VHS release and that was it.

I forget it was either on the first Hulkamania VHS or The Best of WWF Vol 1.

Pretty sure it was on Best of WWF Vol 1, and fairly certain also on Hulkamania.
