I loved him on Dave Letterman and his Showtime show as Super Dave Osbourne. Also great on Curb. He reminded me of old Johnny Ace. Both his appearance and voice. He was 76, the same age as Mean Gene and Daryl Dragon.

He was also the real brother of actor Albert Brooks. And to answer your next question, YES. Albert Brooks' given name is in fact, Albert Einstein.

RIP Robert Einstein
A.k.a. Super Dave

Good call on the Johnny Ace comparison. A very gifted comic with his dry wit. He and Larry David were gold together. Also hilarious on “Arrested Development”. I only vaguely remember his Super Dave skits at this point but the few I saw were funny as the inept Evel Knievel. I had no idea he was sick so it came as a shock to me. They began taping the next season of “Curb” in October so he might still be in future episodes.

Gene Mean, Super Dave Osbourne, and Daryl Dragon (The Captain in The Captain and Tennille) all died within a few hours of each other today...all were 76 years old.

Freaky?

Saw a live taping of super Dave around 1989.
He was hilarious.
Rest In Peace.

I have trouble at work embedding YouTube, so here's a link; a compilation of his funniest moments with Norm Macdonald.

“It's always sad when a comedian gets old and isn't funny anymore. Few avoid this. But what if there was a comedian who not only didn't lose it, but instead became funnier everyday, every day until his last. There was one. And now there is not. Bob Einstein is gone. I loved him.” Norm

A very underrated bit he did was as "Bob" the producer that would come out and interrupt John Byner during skits gong wrong or whatever else on the Bizarre show (same place his Super Dave stuff first came to my attention here in Canada).
He actually was one of the producers of the show too. He was excellent and you knew something good was usually coming whenever he popped out to "Stop tape, please".

Yes! I had forgotten about Bizzare. I used to watch this show when I was 12...for the boobies of course. It didn't take long before Super Dave was my favorite segment...except for the boobies segment of course.

Didn't get the boobie segments in Canada the same way SHowtime had them in the U.S.up here it was edited so the boobies were implied.

We got the boobies segment in syndication! As crazy as that sounds today.

The word Putz was used quite a bit in reference to Mike Walden.

the bleep sounds they made for the swears in the Canadian version actually made things funnier than the swears did, at least for me. When I watched a few eps without the bleeps, it wasn't as good.

The censored Canadian version was also seen in broadcast syndication in the US. I remember it airing at 10:30 after Benny Hill.
