The Bengals today named Zac Taylhor as the 10th head coach in team history. Taylor, 35, leaves the L.A. Rams, for whom he served as an assistant coach the past two seasons, including as quarterbacks coach in 2018.

The Oakland Raiders are in talks with the San Francisco Giants about playing their home games next season at Oracle Park in 2019.

Here's a slight surprise, apparently Marvin Lewis is taking a break from coaching, possibly retiring.

Alliance of American Football broadcasts start next weekend with a doubleheader on CBS. The league has deals with CBSSN, NFLN, and Turner as well. And the likes of Andrew Siciliano, Terrell Davis, Marvin Lewis and Maurice Jones-Drew will be on broadcasts.

Dolphin QB Daniel Tosh, whoops, I mean Ryan Tannehill is out at Miami and will hit the free agent market. Apparently Tannehill found out he was out because he noticed his picture was removed from the team press room.

If you needed any further proof that the Ryan Tannehill era in Miami was coming to an end, we have you covered.

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald shared on Monday, ahead of the Brian Flores introductory presser, that the team has removed a photo of Tannehill that had been up in the press room.

The Dolphins would, of course, love to find a trade partner for Tannehill. However, he’s due to make more than $26 million in 2019 and still has two years left on his contract. Any team interested in Tannehill would be more inclined to wait for the Dolphins to release him than give up draft picks for him. With that in mind, it seems like only a matter of time until Miami does release Tannehill. And based on the latest coming out of South Beach, they’re going to be more than content to tank in 2019 as they aim for a certain college football star who’s coming out in 2020.

The AAFL will, at least, be as successful as the UFL...right?! That "San Diego Fleet" logo looks a little like the UFL's "Virgina Destroyers", in fact.

Looking at the rosters and info, I see a lot of names that make me think: "hey, I remember THAT guy". Rick Neuheisel, Rahim Moore, Trent Richardson, etc. Then some bigger names like Moose Johnston or Mike Singletary. If I were in Memphis, I'd consider going to a Memphis Express game, just so I could troll around, after the game, and get Mike Singletary's autograph (I'd consider it... don't know if I'd actually go).

I like all the upstart football leagues over the years, all the way back to the USFL. I even did some work for the "Professional Indoor Football League" in 1998. I take 'em all with a grain of salt and poke fun at them, but I actually would like to see something like the AAFL stick around for a sustained period.

Nick Foles turned down his $20 million option in Philadelphia and will in all probability become a restricted free agent. The Giants and Jaguars have already expressed interest.

The AAF will Institute a Sky Judge for instant replay, something many NFL fans, reporters, and players are demanding the NFL to adopt after the controversial play in New Orleans last month.

There will be plenty of other differences between the NFL and the AAF, which was founded by Bill Polian, a Hall of Famer and former NFL general manager, and Charlie Ebersol, a longtime TV and film producer.

Among them will be a ninth member of the officiating crew, called a SkyJudge who will be in the press box and can instantly correct “obvious and egregious” officiating errors, like the one that marred the NFC championship game.

Perhaps the most timely change is the SkyJudge, who is able to use real-time technology to correct clear errors involving player safety anytime during a game and pass interference inside of five minutes left in the fourth quarter.

The SkyJudge was already in place before the non-call late in the NFC championship game that pretty much cost New Orleans a spot in the Super Bowl. NFL officiating chief Al Riveron called Saints coach Sean Payton after the game and admitted the game officials missed the helmet-to-helmet hit and pass interference penalty by Rams defensive back Nickell Robey-Coleman.

Jason Witten quits ESPN MNF to return to the Cowboys. I think it's pretty obvious that Witten knew he was going to be fired or reassigned, so he quit to save face.

Kyler Murray shows up at the meaningless NFL Combine simply to get his height and hands measured, doesn't throw or run.

It looks like Nick Foles to Jax is a done deal and nobody seems to have any interest in Le'veon Bell except for the NYJ.

The over /under on Kyler Murray draft position on draft day is 9.5. (Thats being drafted under the 10th spot )
I think Arizona drafts him number one and keeps Josh Rosen. Rosen would be a cheap back up.

I see Kyler Murray drafted #1 by AZ as well, but I will say this, if he is drafted in the top 10 but not by AZ, I don't see OAK or NYG drafting him. I don't think Gruden likes him as much as he lets on. Everybody is bullshitting this time of year. I also don't think the old-school NYG think Murray is the guy who is capable of replacing Eli. Tampa Bay is the only other possible contender. Jameis Winston is an overrated QB, but I don't think the Bucs have realized that yet. Maybe Bruce Ariens has?

2019 NFL draft order: First-round picks from 1-32
    Arizona Cardinals (3-13)
    San Francisco 49ers (4-12) ]
    New York Jets (4-12)]
     Oakland Raiders (4-12)
     Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-11)
    New York Giants (5-11)
     Jacksonville Jaguars (5-11)
    Detroit Lions (6-10)
I know they won't do it, but AZ should seriously consider trading the #1 to a team that does not have a QB need. They can exchange round 1 picks, get at least 1 or 2 edition pick, and still get Murray in all probability. Unless the Gruden-Carr dissension is more serious than most believe, because nobody else in the top 10 have a QB need except NYG and TB. The NJY would be the best team for them to trade with. They would be guaranteed the #3, Murray, and at least an additional pick.]

The Jets are very happy with Darnold. The Jets need an edge rusher. They could get Bosa #1, the Cards can get Murray #3. Darnold has nothing to do with the trade scenario.

The Jets are very happy with Darnold. The Jets need an edge rusher. They could get Bosa #1, the Cards can get Murray #3. Darnold has nothing to do with the trade scenario.
People are predicting the Niners pick up Bosa at #2 if Murray goes number 1. I prefer the Niners trade outta #2 and pick up an edge rusher in free agency while drafting a Linebacker like White or Allen.

They only get a 7, but a trade is much better for Denver than cutting him and eating most of his salary. Only thing is, is Flacco really any better than Keenum right now? I'm pretty sure Keenum is better than Colt McCoy, but it doesn't matter because the Redskins don't matter.

I got trade wrong. It was Keenum and a 7th rounder for Washington's 6th rounder.

I think Denver,Washington, are screwed at the QB position.

Raiders sign ex niner and patriot LT Trent Brown . 4 yrs 66 mil. Highest paid LT in NFL history.
I thought Trent Brown was good and Niners should have never let him go but he isn't 66 mil good.

He barely played. He's played 2 games this year due to this mysterious foot injury and looked like shit when he was on the field He's  16.5 million cap hit. Between the year off for Cancer treatment, and the foot injury I'm not sure they're willing to keep on paying that much each year for a PT player.

Why does Niners GM John Lynch continue to only sign players with a history of injuries?! Then he wonders why the Niners lead the league every year in most players on injured reserve and why nobody shows up to watch their games. Kwon Alexander, Jordan Mathews, Jason Verrett, and the worthless Jimmy Ward (5 seasons, 4 of them ending on IR!). All limp Dick wimps.

Not to mention Lynch's horrible draft picks like Solomon Thomas, Ruben Foster, CJ Bethard, etc. John Lynch is in way over his head.

He's just doing what Trent Baalke did. Will Redmond, Marcus Lattimore, Brandon Thomas were all drafted injured and never played a game for  Niners .
Kwon Alexanders base pay is only  1.7 mil the first year. 12 mil a year going forward. Niners have an out if Alexander completely bombs in year two.
Jimmy Ward I have no idea why he was re-signed. Must be sucking Lynch's dick.

WOW! They desperately need a pass rusher, or edge rusher as they call em now, but this is obviously not going to work, and the AB situation isn't going to help any.

Matthews was a star at USC and I'd bet covets some sort of acting and/or broadcasting career when his career winds down in a few seasons, so this move makes sense in many practical ways for him.

Speaking of the Raiders, after announcing last month that they will play their 2019 home games at the SF Giants baseball field, they came to an agreement with the city of Oakland to continue to play at The Coliseum in 2019 and possibly 2020, since the new Vegas stadium is behind on construction.

When do the Gronk to Wrestlemania rumors begin? Maybe they can eventually turn him into another Brock/Rhonda part timer who works sparingly, but still draws? Just speculation of course. If WWE isn't interested, maybe an appearance at AEW Double Or Nothing?

The 2020 possibility for the Raiders in Oakland is just for the purpose of having that contingency fulfilled in the event it is needed so the melodrama of the team trying to find a place to play doesn't get repeated to the embarrassment and frustration of all. The new stadium in Las Vegas is on target for opening on time at the moment.

I honestly couldn't of put it better. The sad thing is, the  Niners were stacked when Balke took over. He drafted Kaepernick too!

MORE RAIDER CRAZINESS!!:

NFL Network's Ian Rapaport reported today that John Gruden and GM Mike Mayock have sent all of the Raider scouts home until AFTER the draft because of distrust and paranoia!! I'm not making this up!

They will after the draft. Smart trade by Seattle. Yeah, they lose a top notch pass rusher, but he was expensive and they needed to free up some salary cap so they can give Russell Wilson his boatload of $$. This way, they can draft some pass rushers in a rich draft for defense and they will be relatively cheap for 4 years.

At #21 and #28 they better draft some offensive lineman to protect Wilson.

Why? Wilson is always at his best when the play breaks down and is under pressure. Sounds stupid, but it's true.

Notable Round 1 picks so far:

1. Kyler Murray, AZ, QB (Thank you, idiots in Arizona)

2. Nick Bosa, SF, DE (great pick. Unfortunately, Nick was picked by SF, so he will spend the majority of his career on IR, and will be out of the league within 7 years (see Patrick Willis, Navarro Bowman, Chris Borland, Aldon Smith, etc.)

3. Quennen Williams, NYJ, DT (great pick, a stud)

4. Clelin Ferreal, OAK, DE (good player, but bad pick. He was rated as a late round 1-mid round 2. The Raiders had 3 round 1 picks!)

5. Devin White, TB, ILB (good pick both for talent and need. Now all the Bucs need is a QB)

The Giants have no idea what the fuck they are doing. Gettleman said he never seen Jones play until the senior bowl. Jones only played 3 series and that made him a #6 pick.

Raiders screwed up their draft. Poor value for a guy they could have had later in the draft. Ferrell is suppose to replace Khalil Mack.No way. If they wanted Ferrell that bad they could have traded down 7-10 spots and pick up another draft choice. Josh Allen was sitting on the Raiders lap and they bypass him. Big mistake .

Josh Jacob's "I think" could have been had in the second round. Philly may have wanted him. I would have drafted Montez Sweat at #24. Just think the Raiders could have had Josh Allen AND Montez Sweat coming off the corners.

Kinda boring tonight so far to me personally because the Jets have no round 2 pick. Niners pick WR Deebo Samuel at #36. Bad pick IMO. Deebo is a small slot receiver who only works between the hashmarks. He fits in well with Shannahan's system because Jimmy G likes to get rid of the ball quick. The reason I don't like the pick is because they could of easily had him much later. They should of traded down.

The Raiders trade down twice so far and eventually pick Trevon Mullen, CB from Clemson at #40. No complaints here.

Niners pick WR Jalen Hurd #67 from Baylor. WTF, how many WRs do they need? Trent Taylor is underrated when healthy. They also have Dante Pettis, Goodwin, and now they draft 2 more, let alone the fact that they have one of the best young TE in the NFL. Bad pick.

Chase Winovich, OLB/DE from Michigan, drafted by NE #77. I would of liked the Jets, or even the Niners to grab him up. He's nothing special against the run, but he's a good 3rd down specialist.

So, I wonder how long before Chiefs have to boot Tyreek hill now that the audio has come out of him talking about that shit with his kid, and the DA has reopened up the case. I knew as soon as I saw that this morning before I went ot work, they would draft a WR with their first pick..which they did, Mecole Hardman out of Georgia. Hill really fucked himself. This was the last year of his Rookie deal. He was setting up for a huge payday next year. Now that it's pretty much a given that he broke his 3 year olds arm...this dumb fuck really couldn't have learned from his prior beatings. He's gone from beating the pregnant women to kids.

AZ Cardinals GM Steve Keim in the last year:

Hires HC Steve Wilks, then fires him in a year

Trades up for Josh Rosen, then trades him a year

Hires a HC who was under .500 in college and fired by his alma mater to run a gimmick college offense

Takes a 5'10" QB #1 overall, thus gift wrapping arguably the best player in the entire draft to your hated division rival

Has an embarrassing  DUI

Constructed one of the worst rosters in the league, despite having more picks than any other team

Did I miss anything?

I was honestly going to add that Steve Keirn could of done a better job.

We had a Michael Jordan and a Michael Jackson drafted this year! Michael Jackson went to the Cowboys, and is very talented. He never leaves a WR unmolested. And by WR, I mean wide receivers, not whiteboy rookies.

I’d find the NFL network more entertaining if they aired old games or had retired coaches go over game film.

The Seattle Seahawks are parting ways with two players who played a huge role in their successes the past decade.
The contracts of both wide receiver Doug Baldwin and safety Kam Chancellor were terminated with failed physical designations on Thursday, signaling the end of their time in Seattle and potentially the NFL altogether.

NFL committee to decide whether to tweak interference rule

KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. (AP) — NFL owners gave the competition committee the go-ahead Wednesday to decide whether to refine the new rule allowing replay challenges involving pass interference.

The proposed tweak would take the decision on whether to review in the final two minutes of each half out of the hands of the officials. Reviews in the final two minutes would instead require a coach’s challenge.

Owners voted to hold the NFL draft in Cleveland in 2021, the 75th anniversary of the Browns, and in Kansas City in 2023. The league said it delayed choosing a site for 2022 because about 20 cities are interested in hosting that year.

Regarding pass interference, the league fears too many stoppages of play in the closing minutes if those reviews are left up to the officials. A decision on whether to require a coach’s challenge in the final two minutes will come after the competition committee consults with coaches next month.

Owners voted in March to allow pass interference calls or non-calls to be challenged by coaches and reviewed via replay as a one-year experiment. Under the rule adopted then, in the final two minutes only officials in the booth can stop the game for reviews involving pass interference, as is the case with other reviewable plays.

The competition committee may also exempt Hail Mary passes so they’re not reviewable. That change would require coming up with a formal definition of a Hail Mary.

“We really don’t want our games to end on a review,” said Atlanta Falcons president and CEO Rich McKay, a member of the committee.

A proposed rule change requiring each team to have one possession in overtime was tabled for lack of support. The change was pushed by the Chiefs, who lost last season’s AFC championship game without getting the ball in overtime because the Patriots won the toss, received the kickoff and scored a touchdown.

There’s some support among owners to change the overtime rule in the postseason only, football operations chief Troy Vincent said. The league is expected to revisit the subject next year.

The 2021 draft is the latest major sports event landed by Cleveland.
“It’s a big, big deal for our area, one of the founding areas of the NFL,” Browns owner Jimmy Haslam said.

Cleveland will also host this year’s MLB All-Star Game, the 2022 NBA All-Star Game and the 2024 NCAA Women’s Final Four.

Las Vegas hosts next year’s NFL draft.

On other issues:

—Owners voted to eliminate the so-called Oklahoma drill and similar drills that involve especially violent one-on-one contact and have historically been popular early in training camp. A study found one of every five concussions during an NFL season occurs in the first two weeks of camp.

“We saw a certain area at the beginning of training camp where we felt could make greater improvement,” Commissioner Roger Goodell said, “and I think removing some of these drills across all 32 teams is the right way to do that. We also believe by prohibiting some of these drills, that will happen at the college and high school and youth football levels, which we believe should happen.”

The ban follows an examination of data and practice video with coaches, general managers and former players.

“I think some of the coaches were a little defensive at the start, and probably the biggest advocates at the end,” McKay said.

—Marijuana for pain management will be studied by a new committee of medical experts appointed by the league and players union as part of an effort to address player health. Marijuana is banned by the league.

“There are a lot of alternative pain medications and treatments,” Goodell said. “Those are the types of things we want this committee to focus on. One of those is what role medical marijuana can have.”

—Goodell said the NFL will wait to decide the status of suspended Chiefs receiver Tyreek Hill, who is the subject of a domestic violence investigation. “We will not interfere with that,” Goodell said. “We will obviously be cooperative with whatever the court wants. We are prepared to have an interview whenever we have the permission to do so, and then we’ll make a determination.”

—League officials also announced that the NFL’s annual scouting combine will continue to be held in Indianapolis, though it will be moving many of the workout drills to the afternoon and prime time in hopes of expanding the television audience. Those drills have traditionally been held in the morning and afternoon.

Colts owner Jim Irsay wrote on Twitter that after 2021, there will be a series of one-year options to keep the combine in Indy.

—Sunday divisional playoff games will now start at 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. EST to match the starting times for the conference title games the next Sunday. The idea is to increase ratings.

— Assistant and positional coaches in the NFL and college have been invited to attend a coaching summit June 24-25 in Atlanta as part of an effort to strengthen the coaching and personnel development pipeline.

Vince at work:

The XFL will put 44 players on the field at the same time for their overtime rules. Both teams will basically try for 2-point conversions on each side of the field simutanously in a two out of three falls bout. Not messin' with ya. Surprisingly, this gimmick is getting praised by a lot of talking heads, including Mike Florio and the USA Today clowns.

The last ever Oakland Raiders training camp has been picked to be featured on ‘Hard Knocks’ this season.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/raiders-picked-to-be-featured-on-hard-knocks-061119%3famp=true

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — Oakland Raiders coach Jon Gruden will be a TV star once again.

HBO announced Tuesday that the Raiders will be featured on the network’s “Hard Knocks” show in training camp this summer that gives a behind-the-scenes look at an NFL team.

Gruden spent nine seasons as the lead analyst on ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” before returning to the sideline for a second stint as Raiders coach last year. Now he will likely be a star of the 14th edition of this reality show.

“Everybody wants to be a Raider,” owner Mark Davis said. “Now they’ll find out what it takes to become one.”

The Raiders made several high-profile additions this offseason that made them an attractive team for the show in their final scheduled season in Oakland before a planned move to Las Vegas.

They hired another former TV analyst as general manager in Mike Mayock, traded for big-play receiver Antonio Brown and signed controversial free agents Vontaze Burfict and Richie Incognito. Oakland also had three first-round draft picks in Clelin Ferrell, Josh Jacobs and Johnathan Abram, as well as quarterback Derek Carr.

Gruden had expressed reservations about being on the show but the Raiders were one of five teams who could be forced to do the show because they didn’t make the playoffs the past two seasons, didn’t have a new coach and hadn’t done the show the past 10 years.

NFL Films will send a 30-person crew to training camp in Napa to shoot more than 1,750 hours of footage for the series with access to meeting rooms, training rooms, living quarters and practice fields.

“They do a really good job of staying out of your way,” said defensive coordinator Paul Guenther, who was on the staff in Cincinnati when the Bengals were featured on the show.

“You can see, kind of, what’s going to be on the show. I think the positive thing is you find out a lot about your team and the coaches on the staff that, ‘Hey, when the camera is on you are you going to be a different guy or a different player or if you’re not.’ Because really after the third day, you don’t notice, you’re so used to having them around that you just go about your business.”

The other teams that were eligible were San Francisco, Washington, Detroit and the New York Giants.

The first of five episodes will air Aug. 6.

Raiders will also be playing their week 3 pre season game against the Green Bay Packers in my home town of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
I wonder if this city can get a sell out like no other Canadian city has been able to when hosting NFL teams.

Well Richie got suspended by the NFL today for two games. He didn't even make it to training camp. LOL

I know it will never happen in my life time, because the inmates are running the prison, but not only do I agree with this, I had this same idea when I was 12 years old and fantasy booking the NFL, no bullshit:

NFL owners propose an 18-game schedule and limit of 16 games

Monday morning, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the 49ers and kicker Robbie Gould had reached an agreement on a two-year, $10.5 million contract that is fully guaranteed. This also includes an option clause that turns the deal into a four-year, $19 million deal that includes $15 million guaranteed.

Yeah, they could of had him for cheap too since Robbie is constantly crying and bitching about missing his family. He won't move his family to NorCal because his wife and family are from Chicago. The Bears were foolish to get rid of him in the first place.

NFL commissioner may be forced to testify under oath in Saints fans’ lawsuit: report

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.foxnews.com/sports/nfl-commissioner-may-be-forced-to-testify-under-oath-in-saints-fans-lawsuit-report.amp

Commissioner Roger Goodell raising his right hand and swearing to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth?

It could happen, a report said, after an appellate court in Louisiana on Wednesday upheld a district judge’s decision to let a lawsuit filed by disgruntled fans of the New Orleans Saints to proceed.

The case stems from the widely disputed NFC Championship Game last Jan. 20, in which a referee’s non-call of what appeared to be a pass-interference penalty allowed the Los Angeles Rams to ultimately defeat the Saints and advance to the Super Bowl.

I am reading a book on Madden's Raiders. It had a story about the team bringing in America's first topless dancer, Carol Doda, to one of their big bar parties. After describing her ample bosom, I had to.... do research.... Anyway it lead to me to this amusing tale:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carol_Doda

On April 22, 1965 Doda was arrested along with Pete Mattioli and Gino del Prete, owners of the Condor Club. They were cleared when two judges instructed not-guilty verdicts. Judge Friedman's memorandum to opposing attorneys reads, "Whether acts ... are lewd and dissolute depends not on any individual's interpretation or personal opinion, but on the consensus of the entire community ..." Doda and del Prete were arrested during police raids to stop bare-bosom shows in North Beach.[16] Peter Mattioli owned the Condor Club by 1967 and Doda still appeared in shows there.[17] Doda was a witness during the trial of two all-nude dancers who were arrested for "indecent exposure and lewd and dissolute conduct", in 1969. The defendants were dancers at the Pink Pussy Kat in Orangevale, California. Presiding Municipal Court Judge Earl Warren Jr. moved the trial, temporarily, from the courtroom to Chuck Landis Largo club. There Doda performed to live song and dance numbers, along with a movie titled Guru You. She was cross-examined by a deputy district attorney about what she hoped to convey to audiences in her act. Doda was dressed in a red miniskirt with dark blue piping and beige boots. She responded that the movie represents "a satire of pornography ... it's to show people the humorous side of sex". Several members of the 10-man, 2-woman jury kept in check their smiles as Doda explained the 17-minute movie. The deputy district attorney opposed asking her to perform, considering it irrelevant to the case. He was overruled by Warren.[18]

And the jinx continues in San Francisco as top draft pick Nick Bosa injured his ankle yesterday and will miss at least 4 weeks. There's absolutely no way Jimmy G makes it through the season, this team is injury cursed big time.

The Saints fan lawsuit against the NFL over the non call in the Rams game is so dumb and it's a good thing it is in court in Louisiana because in a neutral court district that thing would get punted out of court in a heartbeat. It stinks as a Saints fan that the call got messed up at the key moment of a big game, but those are the breaks of sports. The Saints have had plenty of instances through their history in which bad calls went in their favor instead of against them. As fans, buying a ticket entitles you to watch a game with the understanding that there are no guarantees about the results, the level of entertainment or the officiating. On the last note, the expectation is that the officials will do their best to call the game correctly, but there is no guarantee they'll get it right every time because such a thing isn't possible. Even replay gets it wrong now and then. I don't even see what there is to gain from putting Goodell on the stand. This is a case of fans taking whining to extreme levels. Pack it in and get ready for the 2019 season.

The crooked refs single handedly cost the 49ers a Super Bowl championship in 2013 with a horrible call against Ahmed Brooks on a sack and fumble on Drew Brees.

They called Brooks for a head shot on that play. Replay and pictures showed his arm under Bree's collarbone.

Yep. Cost the Niners home field against the Seahawks. Of course SF[size= still outplayed them up in Seattle and got hosed again by ridiculous officiating. If the game was at the Stick where it should of been, Niners would of won. Of course that would of meant Colin Kaepernick would of won a Super Bowl, so maybe all turned out for the best.]

Niners would have won the division due to tie breaker with Seattle but got stuck with the wild card. They ended up playing GB and then Carolina before facing Seattle who just faced the Saints.. Would have been other way around. I don't think Seattle gets by GB in 2013.

If they would of won the Saints game, they would of finished 13-3 and had home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Chiefs picked up Mo Claiborne this week. He'll sit out 4 games due to suspension, but it's not a bad cheap pickup to add to their secondary
