White beat Hiroshi Tanahashi at today's New Beginning in Osaka today. He is really being pushed the way Gedo pushed Okada. I see a White/Okada match coming up soon.

Wow, that was quick. Not a long reign this time by Tanahashi, not that he needed one. White is getting this too soon IMO but I know NJPW was desperate to get someone else at that level with Omega gone and Tanahashi older and always hurt.

Jay WHITE. As in Leon WHITE's son. And if you are too dumb to know who Leon White is, you might know him as former WCW World Heavyweight Champion STING.

Does he use his father's famous finisher the Crossface Chicken Wing/Figure Four Leglock Combo?

I'm pretty sure that move was innovated by the great Erik Watts.  That's what the STF stands for, obviously.

I thought Leon White had a son named Jesse White, who worked some NXT as Jay Carter. Not the more famous Jesse White who played the lonely Maytag repairman, either. Jay White is a New Zealander, I think.

I thought Jay White was Bill White's son, thereby making him Billy Black's brother.

There is no such thing as New Zealand.  They just needed a place other than "parts unknown" to bill The Sheephearders from so they made up the name because it sounded funny.  You've been worked.  What a mark.

Jay White is a talented wrestler from New Zealand.

There is really no excuse on not to know who Jay White is. ROH/NJPW are on all over the place and news is really easy to find.

Much like "Rio de Janeiro", "New Zealand" is a wrestling work that has made its way into popular culture. As we all know, neither place really exist. In fact, Lew Thez coined the term "New Zealand" when he first wrestled Pat O'Connor. This was a compromise since, as we all know, Thez famously refused to wrestle Micks.

That's Jay Lethal, who just set the record for most total days as ROH World champion.  But Lethal has never gotten over in Japan.
