Dr Death was fighting on two ruptured hamstrings, he had denghi fever, shingles, a hang nail, and a very sore wart on his pecka. And he still kicked Bart Gunn’s ass from pillar to post until the ref got in the way and Bart Gunn landed a lucky haymaker.

To be fair, Doc obviously fucked up his ankle or hamstring in the 1st round, pretty obvious.

Brawl For All might be the worst conceived angle/gimmick in wrestling history. It was clear it was going to be a disaster after the first match, but WWF had committed to a 15 match tournament. I remember that every first round match took place to a background of the fans chanting, "We want wrestling." Ironically, the fans did start to get into it in the later rounds, but by this time, WWF had given up and just wanted it to end. One of the matched didn't even make it onto Raw, with highlights being shows in the build-up to another tournament match.

I can't see how WWF could possibly have thought that they could hold a tournament that was a shoot that was supposedly planned to get Williams over.

Doc was done by this point anyway.

I agree with Kriss and Blazer both.

I thought they had plans for Dr Death but this completely derailed things. No?

No?That's what I heard as well.  Like they were going to do a program between him and Stone Cold, but getting KOed ended that.  If he lost, he lost - but they didn't think people would find him credible after losing to Bart fucking Gunn.

I feel like he never would've gotten to Austin anyway.  He was breaking down from years of brutally stiff Japan matches and wasn't healthy that entire run, even before Brawl For All.  Throw in the fact that he wasn't a good promo and I think he falls into the category of hundreds of other guys who were "supposed to get a monster push" but likely never would've.  Besides, he was a JR guy and Vince just lived for fucking with JR around that time period.  I have no idea why.  They're just lucky that Vince didn't book them to have gay sex in front of JR's family in Oklahoma.

I don’t think Austin v Williams would have been much especially in that era when interviews and skits meant so much and Williams wasn’t a good interview.

I think they could have done something with Williams, Shamrock, Vader, Blackmon and some others fighting under slightly tweaked but still fake sport rules and made an entertaining mid card product.
