CULVER CITY, Calif. — A 34-year-old professional sports gambler from Las Vegas won more than $110,000 on “Jeopardy!” on Tuesday, breaking the record for single-day cash winnings. The show said in a press release that James Holzhauer won the episode with a total of $110,914. The previous record of $77,000 was set by Roger Craig in 2010. Tuesday’s win was the fourth consecutive victory for Holzhauer, whose winnings total more than $244,000. He will face two new challengers Wednesday. “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek revealed in March that he was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer but said he intends to fight the disease and keep on working. The episode that aired Tuesday was taped Feb. 11 |

He got control of the board and went for "Daily Doubles' and never missed. He was a machine. |

I just saw this guy. He's completely unstoppable with Daily Doubles. I wonder if he'll eclipse Ken Jennings for longest stay. |

What is the "game theory" around finding Daily Doubles? I thought they were random. Is this like the guy who figured out the formula on Press Your Luck in the '80s? |

Went 40 for 40 in the first two rounds of Wednesday's show. Buzzed in first 90% of the time. Can he go on 'Millionaire' and clean them the fuck out at the same time? |

There's something slightly off about this guy, although I'm not sure what it is. His expression never seems to waver during the games. Whatever the case is, he's pretty damn impressive. He's mop the floor with Ken Jennings. I don't quite get Jeopardy's refusal to make the Daily Double locations truly random. You almost never see them in the first or last rows. Why not? When people stopped going straight down the columns a few years ago, they should have gone to completely random placement. |

I haven't even seen a second of these games yet (I hope I can find them on YouTube or something) but the fact that there's "something slightly off about this guy" would be my default assumption about anyone like this. I'm sure he's on the autism spectrum or something similar. |

All I know is that if I was booked as a contestant against this guy, I'd be a little miffed. It's like asking a Little Leaguer to pitch to Barry Bonds. It's just not fair. |

So he probably has a stock "cheesy smiling face" and is accustomed to not showing his real emotions. When he starts playing Jeopardy he goes into a game mode and nothing (so far) distracts him. He's also very quick to call out the next question and I don't think there have been any un-used clues in any round he's played. There's something slightly off about this guy, although I'm not sure what it is. He has shown quite a bit of personality and isn't exactly robotic. He rang in on a clue about Pearl Jam and crooned "Better Maaaaaaan". His Daily Double and Final Jeopardy wagers are usually random numbers or someone's birthday, which explains why he has such odd numbered scores in each game. While Final Jeopardy wagers vary to the single dollar amount but, traditionally, Jeopardy contestant wager only even numbers for Daily Doubles. Someone dug deep and found that he was on the 2014 ABC game show "The Chase" and did well. Another article speculates that Holzhaeur's per episode payout might actually be more than Alex Trebek's. |

My wife had me watch the last 15 minutes last night to see this guy. He is a machine. Over $1m now and it is hard to see him being taken down anytime soon. The show loves this btw. The ratings will increase big time. |

They're surely building it up to a match against the bloke who had the previous record in a head-to-head. And with a bit of luck they will time it so Trebek drops dead while reading the final question. |

He won @ 75k today. I caught the 2nd half of the show. The guy who was in 2nd place had close to 20k...which on most days would win. Last edited on Thu Apr 25th, 2019 12:41 am by Principal_Raditch |

The question for me is it really about intelligence or just having a great memory? The guy knows significant and less significant things on various subjects. He had to ingest this information and then store it to be recalled. It is amazing but makes me wonder. |

My grandma use to be convinced that the contestants were given the questions, but not the answers, in advance on many quiz/game shows. Particularly Jeopardy. Sometimes I look back and think that ignorant old fart is not nearly as crazy as I thought she was when I was a kid? Also, what's the over/under on if Alex grows the mustache back before he dies? |

There were the quiz show scandals of the '50s, but certainly if that was still happening we'd have heard about it in the past 65 years. I get plenty of Jeopardy questions right, why would they need to give people help? This current guy is a once-in-a-lifetime rainman type. |

Let him sleep it off and think about what he posted. He has been doing that a lot lately. Maybe an intervention in the Rubber Room is needed. Last edited on Mon Jun 3rd, 2019 12:45 pm by Papa Voo |

Ports is on another level of the internetz rasslin’ community compared to this schmuck. This guy just likes pissing on donkeys and then laughing at himself. I just think we should create a thread and nominate him as Poster of the Year. He is beginning to reach douche level of greatness. Also wants to be funny like tofu chipmunk, but he is not even close. I find his attention-yearning and whining posts entertaining. This is much better than his troll/comedic posts. He needs to focus more on how he feels cheated and how his life went to hell after being banned from a wrestling message board. Last edited on Mon Jun 3rd, 2019 03:57 pm by Papa Voo |

He loses tonight. He gets the Final Jeopardy question right but everyone else does too, and he doesn’t wager enough to win. It’s already aired in some markets. |

So this cat (the Jeopardy rainman guy) is from the Chicago suburbs. They've been doing stories on him in the paper and local news every day. Wait for it.... Yep, you guessed it. He's a big professional wrestling fan. |
