TMZ.com

Ric Flair was rushed to a hospital Thursday morning after suffering a medical emergency, TMZ Sports has learned.

We're told Flair was in the Atlanta area when something went wrong. The 70-year-old WWE legend was initially taken to the emergency room to be treated.

The specifics are unclear at this point -- but we're told the situation is "very serious."
We reached out to Ric's camp for comment -- so far, no word back.

Flair had a previous medical scare back in 2017. He was placed in a medically induced coma for 11 days after his intestine ruptured. Flair was in critical condition and on the verge of dying.

But, "The Nature Boy" pulled through -- and a year later, he married his longtime girlfriend Wendy Barlow ... who stuck by his side throughout the entire medical scare and subsequent recovery.

Ric had been doing great recently -- and had a massive star-studded bash for his 70th birthday back in February ... with a guest list that included Todd GurleyCharles BarkleyJeff HardyTriple HEvander Holyfield and Dennis Rodman

Conrad reporting that it's nothing serious. Routine procedure prior to Vegas.

TMZ has been pretty on the money the last few years, and being rushed to the ER is not close to the same thing as having a routine procedure.  Someone is being lied to.

During a media call to promote Starrcast this afternoon, Ric Flair's son-in-law Conrad Thompson said that Ric Flair underwent a scheduled surgery today and that while he appreciates the concern, it is not nearly as serious as the TMZ.com story has made the situation out to be.

Thompson made it clear that this was a procedure that Flair needed and made the decision to have it before his trip to Las Vegas as opposed to waiting until after the gathering.

Thompson said that he would not comment further and said that was for Ric and his wife to decide to comment on his medical details.

I've met Conrad and know Wendy and some of her family. I hope it is just how Conrad is portraying it.

Wrestling legend Ric Flair, who was hospitalized in the Atlanta area on Thursday, is dealing with complications that have delayed a planned medical procedure on Friday, according to his wife.

“Ric’s surgery has been postponed until Monday to address some [c]omplications that needed to be taken care of first,” Wendy Barlow, who wed Flair last year, wrote on Instagram Friday afternoon.

She added: “Thanks for all the well wishes.” She did not specify the nature of the surgery and Flair’s condition is the hospital is unclear. A source told the wrestling news website Pro Westling Sheet that Flair was hospitalized in connection with recent heart issues.

In a previous statement to PEOPLE, Barlow confirmed that “due to ongoing health complications, Ric was taken to the hospital and is expected to undergo a procedure tomorrow morning, after which he expects to fully recover.”

I think TMZ is going to wind up being vindicated here and something serious is going on that the family wants to keep quiet.

Flair is having heart surgery today, a procedure that was supposed to happen last week but was delayed because of complications. I don't think there's any such thing as "routine heart surgery", even if things aren't as dire as TMZ makes it sound, so here's hoping everything goes well.

TMZ is reporting that Flair will definitely not be attending "Starrcast II" on PPV, headlined by his celebrity roast, on Friday.  This event was being run by Conrad Thompson and was planned in conjunction with AEW's Double Or Nothing PPV the following night.  Conrad, who has basically insisted that this is all much ado about nothing, has not yet officially cancelled the show or commented in any way about Flair's appearance.  Ricky Steamboat, Sting, Eric Bischoff, Tony Schiavone, Jim Ross, and many others had been announced as roasters.  It seems almost impossible for the roast to take place without Flair being there, but they may have no choice but to go on barring something really bad happening to Flair over the next few days.

In the meantime, TMZ is saying that Flair was in good spirits before his surgery and was joking on the phone with his wrestler friends, but that he's "not out of the woods yet".

Flair's wife told TMZ that yesterday's surgery was "a complete success" and that Flair is resting comfortably.
