I predict PAC's replacement will be PAC.

Also, we already have an AEW thread. I used to wonder why people on boards complain about people starting new threads for no reason. But this is the third one this week, and it all makes sense now. Jim would never have let this happen!

Just because we have one general AEW thread (that doesn't even have AEW in the subject) doesn't mean we can't have a thread on a specific event.  I'll allow it.

I have heard that by a few people lately. It doesn't really make sense to me, but I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

I guess we can discuss Starrcast II here too, since the events are all scheduled in unison.

Those top three matches look to be pretty impressive. That is if Dustin can get a top match out of Cody.Cody did a good job in the build, but he really has to deliver in the ring tomorrow night.

Honestly, even though he probably only has a few matches left in him, I think Dustin is a better wrestler AND worker than Cody right now. And I'm not trying to bury Cody with that comment, either.

Wouldn't it be F'N funny if they did a Dusty Finish?! Especially if it actually made sense and advanced a storyline...even though they're TV is 5 months away. OK, maybe not.

You beat me to it.  I think Dustin, even at his age, can still work and is better than Cody.  And as you said - not a burial of Cody, I just feel Dustin can go with anybody now.  He’s in great shape and has always been great in the ring when motivated.  With that said, guys like Dustin and Jericho should get token runs with the AEW belt when they make one.  As I said once before, they can’t survive with Cody fighting Kenny every week.  Punk would totally change the landscape of the entire project if you want my opinion.

Dustin has gotten himself into the best shape of his career and was on fire when he and Cody were WWE Tag champs. But even that was about 5 years ago. He noticeably slowed after that. I don’t see him as still being able to go on a regular basis, but for one night only I hope he can turn back the clock tonight.

I’m hoping to find a stream tomorrow. The early reviews are that it was great, but I’m trying to avoid spoilers.

Spoiler free review:

Very entertaining show. The worst match on this card would be the best match on many WWE shows. If you are a fan of good wrestling matches, you will enjoy this. If you are a fan of WWE, you might find it a little harder to get into. Everyone on the card has a fully formed gimmick, and if you aren't a connoisseur of indy wrestling, a lot of that will go straight over your head. They crowd knew everything and everyone about in this card though, a fantastic crowd. I really don't need to hear Jim Ross ever again, but he did a good job here. They definitely had a plan going in, which was for someone else to call the moves, with JR giving a more general play-by-play. The cutting between cameras was a bit off, especially in the battle royale, where they missed a ton of stuff. It got better as the show went on, however. One small touch that I really appreciated was that they replaced the ring mat after it got covered in blood. It's the first time I ever remember anyone ever doing that. WWE can't have been happy about Bret Hart and DDP appearing on this show, having only just been featured on the Tom McGee documentary on the Network last week.

Along the same lines, what's the deal with Tommy Dreamer? He can work for any promotion, any time, it seems. It's like he has no heat with anyone -- maybe the first person like that in history of pro wrestling? LOL

I started a thread about this a couple months ago. Dreamer simultaneously is office and talent for Impact, while working matches for MLW, ROH, and AEW, and appearing on WWE Network shows like the Edge and Christian Show and documentaries. All while running his own company House of Hardcore, whose T-shirt all these other companies let him wear for a free plug. Pretty amazing.

On another note, almost the entire MLW roster appeared during the battle royal, so I have to wonder what kind of “contracts” they’re signing people to.

I’m halfway through this show and match quality is off the charts while production is lacking. You have a beautiful sold out MGM Grand but camera work is shoddy and commentary isn’t cutting it. Alex Marvez, in addition to adding nothing on play-by-play, got the dates wrong for the next live on-sale and had to be corrected by JR, who himself isn’t doing great. All the live on-cameras with the commentators are disasters with JR actually saying “I don’t know where we are right now” at one point. Just cut fro matches to video packages if you can’t get the transitions down. It really looks bad. And the “surprise” appearance of the Super Smash Bros. With the announcers not knowing who they were (even though I did) and the fans chanting “Who are you?” was embarrassing. They need to tighten up everything except the wrestling if they’re going to be major league and do live broadcasts.
