I read The Grappler's excellent book and it raised a lot of points about Oregon in particular that I didn't know before.  A big part of that is the extent to which Piper still worked there after going to the WWF.  I knew Piper "retired" after WM III and wound up back in Oregon during his Hollywood hiatus, but I had no idea that he was allowed to simultaneously book for PNW even after returning to the WWF.  Apparently he took The Grappler's booking job but insisted that The Grappler stay on as his assistant booker to handle business while Piper was away.  However Piper was a regular on-screen presence on PNW TV during this time and created the Beetlejuice gimmick for Art Barr.  Does anyone have any memories of this Piper run?  And why would Vince allow this?

Piper also never worked a WWF show in Oregon.

I remember it from the Apter mags. I think Vince allowed it because he respected Piper's loyalty to Owen and probably because he didn't feel threatened by Owen as competition.

Pretty sure this is from that time period. Had a VHS tape of this Piper Portland era but it was ruined in a basement flood.

Piper during much of that time really wasn't working full-time for Vince. It was also a weird situation, where Vince allowed him to work for Don and almost dangled a carrot in front of Roddy about making Portland almost a developmental town.

Anyone have the video of Piper transforming Barr into Beetlejuice?
