I have always thought that Wentz was going to be a top-caliber QB in this league.  He reminds me in some ways of Roethlisberger.  His rookie season showed me this guy was Joe Cool taking on the role of a starting NFL QB.  Looked calm and seemed to show leadership in directing the offense as a young rookie.

Injuries have hampered Wentz, but getting hurt is part of the game.  He may get injured in his first snap next season, or he may play without an injury for the next 12 years.  You never know.

Some football insiders and fans think this resigning of Wentz was premature, because he has not even won a playoff game and is still unproven at this time.

What do you think of Carson Wentz?

Expectations through the roof. He needs to be a MVP candidate.

Worried about injuries though. Most QBs are banged up at the end of the line. He’s been banged up already. Good

Less of an assessment on the player and more about the league today...but decision makers seem to be less patient and don't view intangibles or potential as valuable commodities they will stick with for too long these days.

I think to a man the players play harder for Foles than they ever did or ever will for Wentz. I think the Eagles kept the way more talented QB, but it will cost them as Wentz will never go to the Super Bowl again. Not saying that Foles will in Jacksonville, but if he stayed in Philly? I would have bet on it.

I personally think that Wentz's religious views get in the way in the Eagles locker room. Foles is a religious guy, but he never mentioned 20 times in an interview like Wentz does.

The Foles vs Wentz discussion is fascinating to me.

Wentz has MVP 'potential'. Foles, despite being a former All-Pro and a Super Bowl MVP is probably just a mid-level NFL QB.

Yet the team played better for Foles.

Pederson went and played to Fole's strengths and more or less Wentz being hurt made the team go to a more balanced attack. The team embraced the 'underdog' role

To me Wentz remind a little bit of Big Ben and Aaron Rodgers in terms of ability and playing style. His ceiling is definitely higher than Foles, but needs to take care of himself more so he doesn't get hurt all the time.

Foles, on the other hand, reminds me Eli and Flacco from a few years ago....who looks like an average quarterback most of the time but can be dangerous when he gets streaky.

Foles needs RPO's in the playbook to succeed.

True. But odd. Foles himself not a running threat.
But he IS a pass-catching threat ;)

I wouldn't have extended him until he showed he could stay healthy. I think Philly will regret this decision in the not too distant future.
I agree with someone above, they seemed to play harder for Foles, then Wentz.

They probably played harder for Foles because they had to....because when your starting QB goes down the rest of the team has to raise their game to pick up the slack. Sometimes when your star QB is so good that the rest of the team gets lazy because you know he has the ability to bail you out when you're in the trouble (e.g. Aaron Rodgers), but you can't afford to do that with the backup.

Wentz is overrated and Foles has proven he is a better fit for Philly. They were stupid to let him go.

He's better then Prescott.

I think he is going to have a monster year. The Eagles have all kinds of weapons now and a deep threat that needs to be taken seriously. No more knee brace.

I probably just screwed him. Since I have made this prediction, he will probably go down in week 2 with a ACL/MCL. It really does come down to health. He has all the other ingredients.

He was having a MVP season in 17 when he got hurt.  Even last year when people thought he was bad, the stats say otherwise.  His stats were better than Zak's who is the most overrated QB in the NFL.

Dak's numbers improved drastically when they got Cooper, and will probably again with Witten back.

I used to live in Delaware, which has a large Eagles fan base, and I wear people bash Dak (especially Cowboy fans) the same way Eagle fans used to bash McNabb. And while both has their faults, neither deserves the hate they received because both have won a lot more games than they lost.

And many Cowboy fans must have forgotten their Dark Ages of QBs in between Aikman and Romo.

Dak Prescott is twice the QB that Donavan McScabb was, although they are both highly overrated.
