Although the service was fine when it started, at some point WWE 24/7 Classics on Demand screwed up their videos and introduced a "film look".  From what I can gather using the search function of this board, they fixed it for August 2012's schedule, but it was around for about 2 1/2 years before that.
Does anyone know exactly which month the service went screwy and introduced the "film look"?

What's a "film look"? Is it something with the ratio where big parts of the pictures are cut out on the sides?

Some dickhead at WWE set the main parameters for conversion at 29fps instead of 29.97fps. At least, that's what I was told. And as far as when it happened? Not 100% sure but somewhere on this board holds the secret. I do know that it was on every single episode of Championship Wrestling that they uploaded from 1977/1978 and it's the only reason I can see for them not uploading that content to the Network - they fucked up the transfer and don't have the ability to get a second chance at it because the tapes are shot.

I've been watching the NWA World Championship Wrestling Saturday Night run. The switch to the film look happened in the early 1987 episodes. I forget what year these would have been airing (2010?). It's annoying but...it's better than nothing I guess. Same thing happened with the WWF Prime Time run.

I couldn't stand that either. I have no idea why they did that.

I remember this. Nothing was unwatchable, but it was certainly off putting.

After examining footage from the entire WWE 24/7 Classics on Demand run, I can confirm that the footage up to and including December 2009 was fine.  The "film look" started the month of January 2010 and lasted until July 2012. The footage starting August 2012 until the service stopped (January 2014) was also fine.
