i smoked for almost 25 years.

Started that addiction in the military. “Smoke’em if you got’em.”  Marlboro Medium in a box.

Anybody on here still smoke cigarettes?   Anybody vape?  Never even tried that.

I was a heavy duty “snuff eater” after giving up smoking....Skoal Long Cut Wintergreen. Quit that cold turkey when I was hospitalized with leukemia.   The cravings were way worse than quitting cigarettes, but when I quit cigarettes, snuff was my crutch for cravings.

I know a few years ago despite the pressing anti-smoking campaign, the smoking trend spiked upward.

I vape. Yet, oddly enough I'm heterosexual. I just enjoy those fruity flavors and am easily amused by the plumes. I was never a smoker before this.

Don't forget. You're only gay if you SUCK a cock, not the other way around. 100% not gay.

Smoked cigarettes in the Army. Now, an occasional cigar.

Smoked cigarettes for a long time. Then quit and would only have the odd cig here and there. Usually while having a beer.
Used to smoke the odd cigar.
Had snuff once. Of course I was only 6. Mother was not impressed. I remember we didn't  speak to my  uncle Pete who let me try it because I asked for a long time afterwards.

Smoking is the one vice that I don't understand at all. I don't see the appeal of it, I don't understand what it does for you, and I don't understand how someone can try it for the first time and say, "Hey, let's keep doing this." I've taken maybe 5 puffs of cigarettes in my life and hated how it felt on my throat and how it smells.  I don't even like smoking pot, but I understand why people do that. On the extremely rare occasions I want to get stoned, I eat edibles.

Never smoked as a habit, but I'll have a good cigar every now and then.

I usually smoke a cigar a day, I’ve never smoked a cigarette or vaped and only did snuff once when I was about 19 and felt like I was going to puke.

I agree.  Most of my friends were smokers, so once a year while drinking, I'd have a cig to remind me of why I don't smoke.

I can only speak to cigars but for me they create a feeling of relaxation. I don’t have an extremely developed palate so I can’t taste 173 different things but I can usually if not always pick up the main ones.

2 packs of Marlboros every single day for 22 straight years, but gave them up cold turkey just over 15 years ago.

I'm not one to preach about things, but giving them up was the best thing I ever did for my health.

My mother was a 2-3 pack a day smoker for 45 years and most of my Carbon County relatives were and are big smokers. Most when they reach a certain age (usually late 40's) develop serious health issues. Most don't live to ripe old ages either. Yet, about a dozen years ago at a Christening, I heard a bunch of them talking about how smoking really isn't bad for you. There was a Swiss study or something. Denial.

It’s been about 15 years now since I’ve smoked. Maybe just a little longer.

I've smoked for periods of my life and gave them up for years at a time.

I am in the process of quitting now. My doctor prescribed me 'Wellbutrin' to aid in quitting. It is an antidepressant, but one of the off label uses is that it helps with smoking cessation. I started taking them a few weeks ago (taking one pill a day for 7 days, then 2 a day therafter) and I take them for two months, or until I stop smoking completely.) I have to say that after four or five days, my cravings to smoke dropped drastically. I'm not sure how it works exactly, but I find that when I do have a cigarette they are very un-enjoyable. I only have two or three a day right now after my peak habit was a half a pack a day (around 12). I find the cigarettes I do have now, I don't even finish. By the time I'm half way through a cigarette, I feel that I have had enough and butt it. I think I might have it beat within a week or two (fingers crossed).

I find my biggest trigger to smoke is when I am around others that smoke. When I am home or just not around others that partake, I find I do not crave them at all. It gets tough though being around my Father as he has a pack a day habit. I am not a dope smoker, so I do not have that to worry about.

In the past when I have quit for long periods I have just gone cold turkey, or used the nicotine gum, which I found was very effective. I did one time end up chewing the gum for a long period of time. I ended up getting hooked on it lol.

What I am going to miss though are the cigars. I am not a big smoker of them, but I do enjoy a few every month.

Don't smoke. Don't drink. Don't use any tobacco or drugs. I was straight edge before it was a thing.

So the "martini" thing is just a gimmick?

How old are you?
