Anyone know anything about this guy? I stumbled across his name during a Sporcle quiz because he was Denver's opening day QB in 79. (I assume Morton was hurt.)

His stats are odd.  He seemed to throw some passes and run the ball a few times during playoff games, but he didn't really play much during the season.

I just read up on him.  Weese was the back-up to Morton.  He was brought i to SB game against the Cowboys when Morton shit the bed throwing 4 picks. Mobile QB.  Played for Hawaiian team of the  World Football League.   He was named starter in ‘89 but then had knee injury.

I remember Norris Weese with the Broncos as the backup when I first started really getting into sports and was learning the rosters and stats. That is a rather unusual name, so it stuck with me. Apart from the fact that Craig Morton had the most nightmarish Super Bowl XII imaginable, Weese possibly got a shot in relief that day because the game was at the Superdome and he grew up in suburban New Orleans.

His name still comes up around Denver whenever the lame topic of "Best Broncos Backup QB" comes up, and somebody tries to impress you with their knowledge.

(Of course the correct answer is "Bubby Brister in 1998", but I digress)

I think Weese was/is also a favorite of Woody Paige. As the years have worn on, Paige's love of the 1977 Broncos seems to have increased. The way he describes them, now, you'd think they were the 1978 Steelers.

His unusual name was why I looked him up.

I took a Sporcle quiz and his name was in it as the 1979 starting QB.  I said to my wife, "If the coach came to me and said our starting QB is named Norris Weese, I'd plan on losing a lot of games."
