You realize that most of the best players in the world, including Japan and all the Latin America countries, come to MLB to play, right?  You have this hang-up on "World" as if the entire world isn't already participating.  There are scouts watching 10-year olds in Nigeria throwing balls of yarn at this point.  If you're on the Yomiuri Giants or any other country's team, it's probably because you're not good enough.

This is why MLB jobbers like Tuffy Rhodes and Randy Bass go over there and absolutely clean up.   It's just not the same level of play.

Same with Tom Selleck. Mr Baseball Indeed!

Bumping this up.
We now have Yanks/Astros in the AL & Nats/Cards in the NL.

Yanks beat Nats in the WS

The Dodges seemed like a lock to come out of the NL (and then lose). The fact that they blew it against the Nats is really astounding.

I always said the winner of the WS would be the winner of the Yankees/Astros series, and nothing has changed. The Rays took the Astros to 5 games while the Twins rolled over and died for the Yankees in one of the least competitive postseason series I can remember, so the Yankees have the momentum and can set their pitching rotation, and more importantly they have a completed rested bullpen that they can now overwork.

I'd like to see the Yanks over the Cards in 7.

Baseball history is filled with examples of teams getting hot just at the right time. The Nats aren't necessarily a better team than LA, but you just can't explain things like Howie Kendrick going nuclear at the twilight of his career. The Nats are set up really, really good right now after winning Game 1 and having Scherzer and Strasburg lined up next.

I remember the Mariners winning something like 116 games in 2001 and having to come back from being down 2-1 to Cleveland and then blowing the LCS against the Yankees. That's life. The playoffs are a bit of a roll of the dice. You have to be a good team to get there, but you have to be a great team at the right time once you are there.

All that said, in the AL, the Yankees and Astros are the two teams that deserve to be in the LCS, so that worked out to perfection.
