When this angle was run in Georgia, I think that Mr Wrestling 3 was unmasked and proven to be Rick Rude (Rick Rood). Was this angle run in other territories with different Mr Wrestling 3's (such as Hercules Hernandez)?

This is NWAClassics on Demand but when this angle actually happened were people aware that 3 was Hercules Hernandez. It would have been known who 2 was by that time but 3?

The nomenclature got really confusing. Mr. Wrestling II turned heel. Shortly afterwards he brought in Herc as his partner, also in a white mask with white trunks and white boots. Johnny Walker then declared that from then on he'd be known as Mr. Wrestling and his protégé would be called Mr. Wrestling II. The Apter Mags acknowledged this and then stated that Tim Woods was and would remain Mr. Wrestling and its titles would continue to identify the vet as Mr. Wrestling II and the newcomer would be called Mr. Wrestling III. Most fans have done the same the sake of clarity, but sometimes the designations from the angle get used and muddy the waters.

Note that Jody Hamilton was always Assassin #2 while Tom Renesto was Assassin #1. When Renesto retired, Jody was still known as Assassin #2 for quite a while until at some point being called just The Assassin and adopting Assassin #1 for himself once he brought in partners as Assassin #2. For whatever reason, no attempt was made to rename Mr. Wrestling II as Mr. Wrestling even though Tim Woods had unmasked and was virtually retired past the plane crash.

Hercules spent a good chunk of 1984 under a mask. first as a Assassin in Mid Atlantic and then a Mr.wrestling in Mid South.

As much as he is considered a legend i could just never get into Mr.Wrestling 2. never saw the appeal of this guy. and he seemed like one of those old guys that didnt want to let go. i was watching footage of him in Georgia facing the Road Warriors and he was no selling them.lol wtf? i know he was popular in Georgia but come on.

They ran two different angles with Mr. Wrestling II and imposters in Georgia. The first time was in the fall of 1979. Joe Powell was under the mask as the imposter Mr. Wrestling II. He had done WTBS studio jobs and worked outlaws. Supposedly this angle was launched while Johnny Walker was not in Georgia. He didn't like it at all and the whole thing got scrubbed very quickly. The second time was in the late summer and fall of 1983. It was Jesse Barr that time and he was calling himself Mr. Wrestling rather than Mr. Wrestling II. I forget if fans were supposed to think this was Tim Woods back under the hood. Barr and II feuded for a little while and then Mr. Wrestling was unmasked as Jesse Barr.

This was Mr. Wrestling II's last feud in Georgia. The unmasking took place on 10/23/83 and II left after the Thanksgiving card to work full time in Mid-South. He didn't come back before Black Saturday and then missed the entire CWG venture, where he'd have likely been pushed hard had he been there, due to working for the WWF.
