So while WWE was trapped in Saudi Arabia, a shitstorm on Twitter has been unfolding involving ROH.  Agent Joey Mercury quit and pulled a Jordan Myles and started releasing all sorts of e-mails and texts involving ROH GM Greg Gilleland in an effort to prove that he doesn’t care about the talent and is incompetent.  One of the damaging issues involves an alleged concussion that Women’s champion Kelly Klein suffered that was covered up and not medically treated.  He’s been backed up by Klein and her boyfriend and former ROH performer/agent BJ Whitmer, who quit/was fired last year. It’s been a nasty exchange that casts ROH management in a really poor light. Klein has even said she was afraid to speak up because she didn’t want to be fired, and there’s been a side debate about the women not being paid nearly as well as the men. Everyone is taking sides and a few might not return to ROH after this. I’m not sure if Gilleland will survive the allegations either.  His main defense seems to be “Joey Mercury is a drug addict who was passed out most of his time working here”, but Mercury has most of the talent on his side. There’s also talk of general dissatisfaction with the company for being stagnant and moving backwards at a time when other companies are coming on strong, which we’ve brought up here before. Just a lot of unhappiness. What a time to run a wrestling company in the age of Twitter.

Can ROH technically be chosen in the 2020 dead pool list?

Rossi's insider info makes the Mike from Fla of this group. He always has indy rasslers feeding him news that nobody gives a fuck about very much like Rob Marco.

Is this an event that becomes big enough for Sinclair to say maybe we should shut this down?

At this point ROH has so much content on their streaming service it would take years for someone to watch it all even if they watched 3hrs a day. Or they could always just sell the library to the E and just be done with it all.

Ring of honor really missed the boat; Juice and the crew aren’t bad but they really should have tried harder to get a big star now and again.

Well they need to put a concussion protocol in place. It’s pretty mind-boggling to learn they don’t have one. And Gilleland might have to lose his job. I’d be surprised if this actually kills the company though, unless more revelations are coming. Obviously this is small potatoes for Sinclair so I guess it could go either way. They could barely notice, or they could decide it’s not worth the drama. ROH survived before without a big financial backer though, and I can’t imagine their expenses are that high.

Is this the Greg the office boy that Cornette always bashes?

Cornette has jumped in and bashed Greg Gilleland (as he has to involve himself in everything), so I guess so.  I don't follow Cornette's podcasts.

This isn’t going to kill ROH. What is going to kill ROH is that with WWE and AEW trying to lock in wrestlers to contracts that in many cases are for a LOT more money than they were just three years ago, ROH will only be able to pick from the scraps. And those scraps will either be the greenest of the green newcomers, the drug addicted, or the very old lower midcarder that has no real business still wrestling.

I think talent is out there.  It makes it tougher, especially with MLW and the NWA sniffing around too, but it's there.  You can find hidden gems just like guys like Claudio Castagnoli and Tyler Black once were.  It's not like they were indy darlings on day one.  You just have to be prepared to lose them after 2 years if they're any good and then start again.  But they should already be used to that.

They really need to stop the in-fighting though and give talent a reason to want to go there.  Their reputation as the top indy, a fast track to WWE developmental, and a good family environment with decent enough pay for few dates are all suffering.  For the last 2 years the front office seems to be a mess, and the product is beyond stale.  And look at the recent WWE signings who have taken off.  Guys like Matt Riddle, Keith Lee, Ricochet, etc.  None went through ROH (Lee for 5 seconds but that's not where he gained his rep).  They used to ALL go through ROH.  That's what hurts them.

I've gotta check the ROH show out. I dvr it every week, but I haven't actually put an episode on since last January.

I just cant get into it. Part of it is that I know a lot of these guys aren't going be sticking around like you guys discussed above. The other part is wishing some of the other guys would leave and go somewhere else. Prime example are The Briscoe Brothers. What else can they do there?
They are beyond stale. I'm not a fan of Dalton Castle. The two guys I do like are Jay Lethal and Silas Young and I think both should leave and go to AEW. I think Silas should be a WAY bigger deal in wrestling than he has been.

I'm biased because I'm friends with Silas, but you're right he should be a used more prominently. He's very good in the ring and he's got charisma.

Even the super shows / combined shows ROH does don’t even feel special due to the staleness of their roster. They should pick 3 or 4 guys who aren’t the Briscoes or Lethal to build around and let the rest go as their contracts expire. Not saying they can’t bring them back but let them go.

Well they stole Rush from MLW and have given him a super push.  They've also pushed all the Lifeblood dudes, and they're all brand new as of January.  They're trying.

That’s all true and they brought in PCO and Brody as well.

For me it’s the collection of Taven, Lethal, Briscoes and Castle that really bore me.

I think there's a staleness to the presentation and the way the shows are produced.  Much like Raw, nothing seems can't miss, nothing seems exciting.  Sure ROH has better wrestling, but when was the last time they ran a big angle or had a blood-feud?  They desperately need something like that CZW feud again from years ago, or the unpredictability of some of the Kevin Steen stuff.  It's all paint-by-numbers now.
