His heyday was before my time, but he was a very visible jobber-to-the-stars in the mid '80s who seemed to be working a heavy schedule into 1985-1986.  I saw a lot of him in my first years as a big fan, and then of course he was one of the suits who would always be on camera breaking up fights or whatever after he retired.  I always thought he had a unique look even then and really stood out.

When I started watching wrestling in 79-80 he still won his fair share of matches. Mid card guy.

His passing was really kept silent for a long time. He lived a good long life though.

Always liked him.  My first exposure to him was seeing him on Coliseum Home Videos getting guys like Hillbilly Jim over.  His hair always made him stand out as a suit.

RIP - Did he live with Andre at that ranch? It seemed from the documentaries, he did.

Maybe you're thinking of Frenchy Bernard?

When I think of Rene I always hear Gorilla making fun of his friar tuck hair cut breaking up a match

He was good in the ring. In all the books I've read and shoots I've heard, I don't recall any other wrestler saying anything bad about him, even as an agent. RIP Rene Goulet.
