Peart was famous enough that this not leaking...for three plus years...is still pretty incredible to me. Good for him and his family that their circle of friends and professionals held the highest standard of what "Privacy" meant to him.

It shows how unseemly the whole Gord Downie situation wound up being in the end.  Seeing Justin Trudeau slumming it in the crowd during the final concert, while Gord spewed woke propaganda was a sad way to wrap up the career of a great act.

Perhaps, but the Hip-heads I know ate it up so whatever it was designed to be, it made an impression.

"Woke propaganda"? You are aware he was dying from a brain tumor. Probably more Lucid at the end than many of the fuckers on this board.
He had his causes, some I didn't agree with at all but he went out the way he wanted to go out, wanting to make the music he loved until the very end.Yeah Trudeau was a knob but that's on him not on Downie or the Hip. It's typical of those that are basically hangers on publicity hog types needing to be seen. It's amazing to me sometimes how badly celebrities need people to trip all over themselves and everybody else for a photo op.
Peart chose to just pull back when he first discovered he was ill. A d while none of us knew the extent Iverson in an interview in 2018 did say they were retired due to Peart's health.

What did the manner of his death have to do with the causes he was pushing?  Or the way he slobbered over Trudeau at the final Kingston show?

Gord went out the way he wanted and that's certainly his prerogative.  All I'm saying is I personally prefer and admire Peart's decision to eschew the public spotlight.  I find it far more dignified.

Are you jealous. What's a matter? Downie turn down an autograph request from an asshole American. What a shame. Trudeau likely wanted and craved the attention much like your prick President who is out to get everyone killed.
Downie kept performing so his illness would have been impossible to keep hidden. Peart chose to retire. Nothing wrong with either choice.
You spouting your bullshit is like that faggot on another board saying he got sideways with someone who had died. Shut up.

That's one thing I have seen (here in Canada) since The Hip's frontman died...speaking critically of Gord Downie will provoke a reaction just like AA's just about every time. I admire that sort of passion, to a point...I don't think KGB was making a disrespectful statement. But Hip fans are extremely passionate and if one thinks Gord et al have been insulted, both barrels will come out.
I admire that they have a fan base like that, to a point.

...back to Neil...I do not think Neil retired because of his brain cancer, I think it was diagnosed after he had already made the choice to quit because of other health issues like tendonitis, and a true desire to get off the road. I can however buy the idea that he wasn't feeling right in the time leading up to quitting, but not knowing the cancer was starting to develop.

I get tendonitis just looking at his kit. Seriously has any drummer's kit ever matched up to Peart. Irrespective of the Rolling Stone list of the 100 greatest drummers of all time, not sure where he falls on everyone's list but his kit has to be #1.

Greatest 100 Rock Drummers? He's #1 for sure. Everyone else is fighting for #2. Greatest drummers overall he wouldn't make the top 25 probably..

Um, what?  That's a random reference.  I love Rikki Rockett as much as Convoy loves Tito?  I've never given that guy a second thought.  CC Deville is the only guy in that band who ever had musical talent, and most of it was wasted.  But Poison was a much better band to get a girl to take her top off to than Rush.  At Rush shows, I imagine there were a lot of obese dudes who whipped out their cocks though.

Yup.  Not the first, won't be the last.  First hair band drummer name to pop into my head so there you go.
