As the title of this topic suggests, I'm trying to make a list of which countries have known professional wrestling footage from before the year 1970. Here is a list of the countries that I know for sure have some existing footage, I've written "clips only" in bold next to the ones where only newsreels/film clips are out there, the rest have proper TV footage:

- Argentina (clips only).
- Austria (clips only).
- Australia.
- Canada.
- Czech Republic (clips only).
- Finland (clips only).
- France.
- Germany (clips only).
- Greece (clips only).
- Ireland (clips only).
- Italy (clips only).
- Japan.
- Mexico.
- New Zealand (clips only).
- Rhodesia (clips only).
- Russia (clips only).
- South Africa (clips only).
- Spain (clips only).
- Sweden (clips only).
- Switzerland (clips only).
- United Kingdom.
- United States.

Am I missing any?

Also, I've been told that Brazil has some known footage from this period too, but so far I haven't been able to determine if what's out there is the usual newsreels/film clips or proper TV footage, if anyone has any info on whether or not Brazil has anything other than clips, I'd be most grateful!

It started in 1962. I've seen some brief pre-1970 clips of it on youtube but not sure if there's anything complete. I'd really like to know if there is though.

These are so far the only pre-1970 Iraqi matches I'm aware of:

John Lees vs. Adnan Al-Kaissie (Iraq, 1960s) Ian Campbell vs. Adnan Al-Kaissie (Baghdad, 1960s) Ian Campbell vs. Adnan Al-Kaissie (Karbala, 1960s)

Some of them can be found here:

I clicked on the Iraq link and got thumbnails for many non wrestling related videos. Can you link matches directly?

UPDATE: The latest country that has known pre-1970 footage is.....Mexico! I've added it to the list in the first post. I've also removed the small list of countries that might have survivng footage from before the year 1970 that was towards the bottom of the first post apart from Brazil which I'm still not sure about.

Obviously I'd known for a while that lucha footage from before the year 1970 existed, but I wasn't 100% sure or not if there are only clips floating around or actual TV footage, however, last night whilst browsing youtube I came across this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyMGlyMgSyQ&fbclid=IwAR3K3vjljnhI4f8QMhxoImZGQJVqqjTgEf99oqtA8aajpxu_yKpRP7vVdMQ

It's Rene Guajardo & Espanto Segundo -vs- Black Shadow & Rolando Vera from 1966, it's joined in progress but has the last 7 minutes of the match without interuption and appears to have been taken from a TV show. This is the most complete pre-1970 lucha footage I've ever seen.

UPDATE:

Several updates actually.

I've decided to remove Iraq from the list of countries in the first post, I believe the 3 matches that are known to exist, that I originally thought were from the late 1960s, are more likely from the very early 1970s, therefore they don't actually fit the criteria of this topic.

Secondly, I've removed the word "Africa" from next to "Rhodesia" and placed the latter in the "R" section.

Lastly, the latest country added to the list in the first post is South Africa.
