As the title of this topic suggests, I'm attempting to make a list of all the countries that have surviving professional wrestling footage from before the year 1970. I'll be using this post to list every country I come across so it's easier for those interested to locate them. Anytime anything new is added I'll also leave a reply for the same reason. Below is a list of the countries that I know for sure have some existing footage. As well as that, as I go along I'm going to be adding in bold the kind of footage that I'm aware of existing next to each country too as a reference guide. Also above the list is a key explaining what each footage type actually means:

Key

- documentary clips = highlights recorded specifically for a documentary.
- filmreel clips = raw footage highlights recorded on film.
- newsreel clips = news highlights recorded on film.
- television = broadcast television footage.

List Of Countries With Surviving Pre-1970 Pro-Wrestling Footage

- Argentina (newsreel clips).
- Australia (filmreel clips / newsreel clips / television).
- Austria (documentary clips / newsreel clips).
- Belgium.
- Bolivia.
- Brazil (newsreel clips).
- Canada (filmreel clips / television).
- Colombia.
- Czechoslovakia.
- Denmark.
- Finland.
- France.
- Germany.
- Greece.
- Ireland.
- Italy.
- Japan.
- Mexico.
- New Zealand.
- Rhodesia.
- Russia.
- South Africa.
- Spain.
- Switzerland.
- United Kingdom.
- United States.

If anyone knows of any countries or surviving footage I'm missing from the list then please let me know!

It started in 1962. According to Martin Karadagián's daughter Paulina, the only pre-1970 Argentinian pro-wrestling footage that is known to exist is a handful of newsreels. She also said there's no surviving Titanes en el Ring footage till the 1970s either.

I've actually decided to remove Iraq from the list of countries in the first post. I believe the 3 matches that are known to exist, that I originally thought were from the late 1960s, are more likely from the very early 1970s, therefore they don't actually fit the criteria of this topic. They are:

- John Lees -vs- Adnan Al-Kaissie (Iraq - 1970s).
- Ian Campbell -vs- Adnan Al-Kaissie (Baghdad - 1970s).
- Ian Campbell -vs- Adnan Al-Kaissie (Karbala- 1970s).

One of them can be found here:

UPDATE: Over the coming weeks, as well as trying to list every country that has surviving pre-1970 footage, as a reference tool, I'm going to be attempting to list the kind of footage that exists next to each country too. I'll continue to use the first post for the main list and will still leave a reply whenever anything new is added as before. So far Argentina, Australia and Austria have been updated with footage types I'm aware of existing, the rest are a work-in-progress. If anyone knows of any countries or surviving footage I'm missing from the list then please let me know!

I clicked on the Iraq link and got thumbnails for many non wrestling related videos. Can you link matches directly?

UPDATE: I've added the type of Canadian footage that I'm aware of existing next to Canada in the list in the first post.

UPDATE: I've made a change next to Argentina in the list of countries in the first post. I'd put in error that there are survivng filmreel clips, it's actually newsreel clips that I'm aware of existing.

UPDATE: The latest additions to the list in the first post are Bolivia and Colombia.

Also I've removed Sweden from the list. The footage that I was told is Swedish is actually Finnish so Sweden no longer fits the criteria of the topic.

I haven't seen it myself as yet, which is why I haven't added the type of Bolivian/Colombian footage that's out there next to both countries in the list, but I've been told by someone in-the-know that it does exist, apparently it was linked from this blog:

UPDATE: Several updates actually.

Firstly, I've removed filmreel clips from next to Austria in the list of countries in the first post. I'd put in error that there is that type of Austrian footage in existence, technically there is, but the footage is of shoot-wrestling which doesn't fit the criteria of this topic, hence why I've removed it.

Secondly, a board member thought it would be a good idea for me to explain what each type of surviving footage actually means since I'll be adding those next to each country in the list too as I go along, and since not everybody knows what, for example, the difference between a filmreel and a newsreel is, so, I've put a key above the list which hopefully will do just that.

And lastly, the latest addition to the list in the first post is Denmark.
