Sports Illustrated has officially gone monthly, changing their editorial direction and even their paper stock.  SI has abandoned game coverage and timely reporting and will focus on feature articles that are less time-sensitive.  They also upgraded the paper quality to something thicker that delivers better presentation of color photographs to allow more pictures.

In the first issue of the new magazine, SI took a look back at previous Super Bowls that were held in Florida and spent 6 pages on photo spreads of all past Super Bowl rings.  Their feature reporting focused on a warehouse worker who pretended that he was kidnapped to avoid paying out on a Super Bowl squares pool, an article written by an inmate convicted of murder on football betting in prison, a story on Texans hunting wild boars with machine guns from helicopters to protect their ranches (a very pro 2nd Amendment article, surprisingly enough), and an article on climbing Mount Everest.

I've paid $2 or less a year for my SI subscription for ages now.  It seems whenever my subscription lapses, I get another offer or the magazine just starts magically showing up in my mailbox because I bought concert tickets and they threw it in.

I had a sub in the early to mid 90’s and they always showed up in my mail box looking like shit. After awhile I started to think my mail carrier used to read it standing in the rain.

Because of that I never got a sub to the apter mags as I would have been really pissed if those showed up looking like shit. Thankfully I could find most everything I was looking for most months between the 5 liquor stores that carried them.

That will remain.  12 issues plus the swimsuit per year.  It's still so popular that even in Cancel Culture Land they can't really get rid of it, but it seems less risque than it used to be and they take a lot of shit for running it.  I remember a few years ago they printed letters that were both pro and con Swimsuit issue with people on both sides threatening to cancel their subscriptions if they didn't keep it or get rid off it.  And those were the letters they actually printed.  LOL

A few times a year I go down a rabbit hole watching boar hunting videos. The helicopter ones are fine, but the ones where they trap an entire sounder in a fenced enclosure is far more interesting. It's also great to watch videos of British farmers ratting their lofts and coops with terriers. It's addictive.

But for some reason it’s ok to the cancel culture people when someone is posting it on their own instagram vs in a magazine owned by someone else.

People are allowed to objectify themselves but not be objectified for profit by a corporation.  I guess.  I try not to get into the minds of crazy people or liberals, but I'm being redundant.

I don't know how any magazine can survive nowadays.
