Who are the only 5 players in MLB history to achieve the following ?

3000 + hits
500 + stolen bases
.300 + batting average

I'll be back tomorrow
with the answer.

OK I'll try.  I imagine we have to go old school for the 500 SB, so I'll say Ty Cobb, Tris Speaker, and Honus Wagner.  Then I'll try Lou Brock.  Could Ichiro have gotten there?  I'll give him a shot for my 5th choice.

These are always fun questions and of course I'll answer without any Googling.

Stolen bases were not considered sexy until the late 60s, so I'm not sure any of the great players from before then would have accumulated that many. There's a great quote from Mickey Mantle about stolen bases, taken sometime in the 80s. Someone asked him if he thought he could have stolen 50 a year, and he said, "if I knew I would have gotten paid today what these guys get paid, yes, I would have stolen 100". I'm paraphrasing that.

My guesses-

A-Rod

Bonds

Ichiro

Rickey Henderson

Willie Mays

My guesses are Henderson, Brock, Cobb, Mays.

I couldn't think of a 5th guess.

Ty Cobb
Honus Wagner
Paul Molitor
Ichiro
Number 5 is tough. I don't think it's someone from the last 50 years but can't think. Going to ponder while I have a couple cheeseburgers and a couple barley sandwiches.

Henderson was the first name I thought of, but I'm almost positive he didn't bat very close to .300.  And if he was around .300 in his prime, he hung on way too long and dipped below it the last 7 seasons or so.  I'm not looking up any stats  though so I could be wrong.

He was horrible most of the last decade of his career if I remember. Had him in fantasy baseball a few times for SB's but the rest of his stats made him an anchor.

Ty Cobb
Honus Wagner
Ichiro

Those 3 have to be locks. Can't even take a guess on the other two.
