Here are the final moments of the cage match between Randy Savage and Ted DiBiase at Madison Square Garden on June 25, 1988. Near the end, a fan climbs up the cage to help the Macho Man. In general the crowd was loud and wild in a way you rarely see anymore.

Wonder where that kid went. Savage jumps down seconds later to almost the exact spot where the kid was dragged down, and he was already gone. I wonder if they beat the shit out of him.

I am betting that after the cops pulled the kid off the cage, they took him either up the aisle beneath the hard camera that leads towards the locker room or sent him over the railing on the side directly opposite the hard camera so cops could take him up the aisle that way. By going close on Savage, DiBiase, and Virgil atop the cage, the hard camera managed to avoid showing this. They were in a bind when the kid ran in because you don't want to show fans on camera and give anyone at home bad ideas, but turning away would have meant potentially missing the climactic spot of the match.

How old do you think that guy was? He looked really young for a fan run in, like high school underclassman age. However, he could have been someone in his late teens or early 20s with a youthful look. He seemed small, but the wrestlers were all huge and someone who was of average or just below average size would have seemed small by comparison. How old he was, if that was clear to the cops, would probably have played a role in whether or not there was a beatdown. I'm not saying they would not have smacked around a 16 year old, but it seems less likely than if he was 20 or 21.

This was the final match of what might have been the last old school three match main event MSG series. DiBiase beat Savage by count out on the 4/25/88 card. At the 5/27/88 MSG show, Savage won by disqualification when Virgil interfered. That interference combined with DiBiase and Virgil attacking Savage after the match and then running to the back when he was in a position to get his shots in led to the cage match stipulation.

In 1988, no one cared.  Even baseball games showed security chasing fans around the field and treated it like a joke.  This whole "let's not encourage them by cutting away" nonsense is a new invention of the past 10-15 years.

I thought when Savage landed, the kid was right in front of him. Red bandana and white shirt, kinda looks like Sean Waltman.

That MSG crowd was electric.

The ringside fan in the white shirt and red bandana when Savage was kneeling was a different guy. The fan who scaled the cage had a red shirt and a red bandana. Given that it was right where the cage climbing fan seemed to come from, it would not at all surprise me if they came to the card together.
