I can't think of a promotion that wasn't on a downward slide before it went out of business, which kind of makes them hard to miss. Maybe Mid-South, because the oil crash was what did them in, rather than bad booking.

So I miss a territory (Mid Atlantic) but I can’t call that a ‘promotion’

I have no facts to back this up. But I believe had Mid South not been ruined by the oil crisis, they would’ve stuck around and been a real thorn in Vince’s side. His booking wasn’t the best, as you can see by the diminished returns on the Superdome shows. But when he had the ability to focus on storyline, he was as good as any. I think the issue was him doing long-term booking at a time when talent was jumping which screwed him up. But what we already saw was guys like the Freebirds, Buzz Sawyer, and Dick Murdoch coming back after going to the WWF because they hated working the schedule. You don’t think other name talent wouldn’t have done the same?

I don’t see it, I think Mid-South was great in 84/85 and slid down from there with a few peaks along the way. A Long term working agreement with JCP and WCCW or JCP and Mid-South and You have a thorn in Vince’s side.

This makes it cloudy.  I love the AWA but the ending was such dogshit that it was a mercy killing.
What I watched of Mid-Atlantic was great.
Florida was great until Dusty left.
World Class was strong, but after the Freebirds left they struggled to create heels and continued to use the same formula.  Friend of the Von Erichs turns heel, rinse repeat.  It worked with the Freebirds & Chris Adams.  It didn't work with Brian Adias & Johnny Mantel.

Southwest Championship was fun while I watched it.

What I've seen of Portland I like.

A Long term working agreement with JCP and WCCW or JCP and Mid-South and You have a thorn in Vince’s side. What you say is pretty much my point.  If not for the oil crisis, Jim Crockett doesn’t leverage everything to buy out Watts because Watts has money and doesn’t need to be bought out.  Instead, maybe they both buy out Mike Graham (who was pretty much done when Eddie killed himself) and use Florida as somewhat of a transitional/developmental territory with somebody like Graham booking it as such (wanted to say Dusty but there’s no way he would have turned down Vince’s money in ‘89) where they develop talent and draw enough money to support the territory.  Starrcade and the Superdome cards become joint productions and they can run the Great American Bash tours around the horn using shared talent and pretty much control everything from Virginia to Florida and as far west as Texas.  They would meddle with Wrestlemania of course, but in time it becomes like it was where PPV companies draw the line and everyone gets their own spot.  But it would’ve been a lot more competitive and compelling than what happened when Turner took over.

I have been watching World Class. If you can handle the Von Erich's being rammed down your throat you will be alright. The Freebirds vs The Von Erichs in 1983 is awesome. It's their NWO angle. Meaning it's huge and white hot. I have really grown to appreciate David Von Erich. I like his interviews. He is the most relatable of the 3. The skit with him and Jimmy Garvin on the ranch is just classic. But after Dave is gone it loses something. He was the best of the 3. He was a huge loss. He is one of those big what if's..

They follow up that huge angle with Chris Adams turning on Kevin. It's not on the same level.

The Kiniski/Kovacs era was good, though of course I knew little of the behind the scenes stuff back then.

But yeah Tomko, lol. For the first few years of the 80's, my grandmother passed in 83,  we'd sometimes watch together or she'd call me and say " did you watch. What was that? LOL.
