The Mets and Yankees played an exhibition game yesterday. While I didn't watch it I saw some of the batting practice beforehand. The cardboard cutouts in the seats was beyond ridiculous. From what I understand they are also piping in crowd noise over the PA. I read a comment somewhere that it would be a million times more interesting if they just used the ambient empty stadium sounds. To me, that seems like a much better idea then playing recorded crowds ala Goldberg. I would prefer they just scratch the season entirely.

I watched the game and wasn’t really distracted by the piped in noise. It was pretty low, and wasn’t as obvious and obnoxious as a Goldberg chant. From what I understand the cardboard cutouts were likenesses of individuals who donated to a charity to get their pictures there, so whatever. It’s irrelevant. I was just happy to watch baseball again

The A's are making money off of those cardboard cutouts. Charging 50 bucks to get your face on one of those. If during a game a foul ball hits your cardboard first the A's will send you a ball.

Scoring question...This year if game is tied after 10 innings they put a runner on second to start the inning. If the relief pitcher allows him to score does it count towards pitchers ERA even tho he did not allow him to get on base? Does he get the loss?

He’ll certainly get the loss. The ERA question is interesting, and I haven’t heard it addressed, but I’m guessing it’ll count against him.

So the season is still on track to start Thursday?
So baseball would be the first of the 4 major sports back. Hockey a week later and idiots dribbling a ball, well who knows.

Football had it been the first back would have meant almost 6 months with nothing.

Watched the Royals/Astros pre-season game last night. It was fun. They piped in some crowd noise which was a little weird, but it was enjoyable to see live sports again.

I believe almost all of the teams are doing this.  We've gone to quite a few games on vacations over the past five years, so I somehow got signed up through MLB or Ticketmaster for emails from the various franchises.  I'm getting these emails every day from the teams highlighting this.
