I think he's one of the worst of the male ring announcers since the Monday Night Wars. What say you?

WCW once paid Michael Buffer $100,000 for saying 2 names, and he announced one of them as “Bret Clark”. My dollars to accuracy scale tells me that has to be the worst job anyone has ever done in any job since the beginning of time.  Imagine caring so little that you’re asked to memorize 2 names for 6 figures and you say, “Nope, fuck you.”  And then a few weeks later they hired him again.

Can't stand him. They are hardly using Dasha, and she is 100 times better than him. I get what he is trying to do, but he just sucks at it.

I have called him Brett Clark ever since then.

This pretty much sums up WCW at the time.  They shell out 100 grand for an appearance by a ring announcer.  Dumb plan because no one was going to buy a ticket or turn the channel to hear Buffer's voice, so it was money wasted.
Then like all things WCW at the time, the execution is completely fucked up.  Big money paid for a shitty performance.

Justin Roberts blows. I expected him to kick ass after getting a second shot in AEW and he's actually regressed since his WWE days.

So he was part of the Chicago indy/backyard wrestling scene back around 1996 as a 15 year old calling himself Enzo Reed. He had a "hotline" set up on one of those AT&T voicemail numbers where you could call and listen to him read out of the Torch and Observer and read AOL rumors. So, I could never really get that out of my mind when I saw him. I'd probably have a different impression of him if I didn't know him.

He was on Nitro every week for a while.

If true, I would think Bischoff was in on it. I'm not saying this story is true, just what I heard. Michael Buffer is a great ring announcer, trust me - he knew who the hell Bret Hart was.

He was fucking people's names up long before then as he started working with WCW in 1993.

On one PPV from the early 90s he kept calling referee Randy Anderson "Randy Peterson".

And Hulk Hogan was the "King of Hulkmania".

I believe Buffer may of been told to deliberately screw up Randy Anderson's name too. Randy was a pain pill junkie and dealt to some of the boys. He died from his addiction. But before he died, he stopped dealing. That got him some heat, - because Randy was a rat. Not in the wrestling groupie sense of rat. He was an office stooge, and everyone knew it. He even testified in court against his longtime friend Arn Anderson, acusing Arn of calling guys the N-word in that racial trial WCW had. Randy Peterson, whoops, I mean Randy Anderson had major heat in WCW at that time.

I never heard any of that, but how did he die from his addiction?  From what I understand he had very advanced testicular cancer that should’ve been treatable but he didn’t go to the doctor. He had to have a testicle removed, but it was too late and it spread.

From my understanding, Randy recovered from cancer 2 full years before he overdosed.
