I can see a lot of good long blondes ex-jock talking heads in the unemployment line when sports return to some sort or normalcy.

Granted a lot of the pre Covid-19 broadcasts that play by play announcers and analysts called off a monitor across the country rather from at the stadium were lower frills productions like Sun Belt football, FCS football, and a mid level Big 12 or AAC basketball team hosting a Big South or Big Sky team, but there have been such productions that still utilized sideline reporters that were live at the stadium or arena. However, instead of a big name personality who was on contract with the network, they'd often utilize someone local, like a sports radio host or the third string sports anchor at one of the local network affiliates.

Between the sabremetrics crap and Alex Rodriguez, I was only able to get through about 2 innings of commentary before I muted the TV and turned on Spotify.

Yeah. When they officially launched all the exit velocity garbage (2014?), I instantly thought it was garbage. My response to it is always: "how fast was Willie Mays running and what was his angle on the ball when he made that famous catch?" The correct answer is "who cares?"
If a ball clears the fence, in fair territory, it's a home run. You don't get an extra RBI is it's over a certain distance or angle.
Just another way to try to pump up the ordinary. I like baseball history for all the odd stories...not the numbers.

Got to have that sexy, tight 26 year old sideline reporter to interview the coach at halftime before he runs into the tunnel, getting up in his ear and shouting because the band is too loud but showing her great tits,  "Coach, talk about what you need to do in the 2nd half to come out and sustain the tempo and energy."
I just gave you the blueprint for every college basketball game ever played in the past 15 years.

I thought you were talking about football, so I think you just gave the blueprint for both.
