“Video Killed the Radio Star,” the Buggles
“You Better Run,” Pat Benatar
“She Won’t Dance,” Rod Stewart
“You Better You Bet,” the Who
“Little Susie’s on the Up,” PhD
“We Don’t Talk Anymore,” Cliff Richard
“Brass in Pocket,” the Pretenders
“Time Heals,” Todd Rundgren
“Take It on the Run,” REO Speedwagon
“Rockin’ the Paradise,” Styx
“When Things Go Wrong,” Robin Lane and the Chartbusters
“History Never Repeats,” Split Enz
“Hold on Loosely,” .38 Special
“Just Between You and Me,” April Wine
“Sailing,” Rod Stewart
“Iron Maiden,” Iron Maiden
“Keep On Loving You,” REO Speedwagon
“Message of Love,” the Pretenders
“Mr. Briefcase,” Lee Ritenour
“Double Life,” the Cars

That's the list (in order) of the first 20 videos that MTV ever played, but not the first videos ever made.

If you ever see Pat Benatar in concert, Neil Giraldo will drone on for 10 minutes (every single time) about how he is the first guitarist ever heard on MTV because "Video Killed the Radio Star" didn't have guitar featured in it.  He's been living off of that story for 35 years now.

Correct, it was a continuation of my post above that MTV's first days were very UK heavy.

Except it wasn't.  Out of those 20 videos, 9 were by American artists, 7 by British, with 1 Canadian and 1 Kiwi.  There were also two videos by The Pretenders, who had both British and American members.  Well, Chrissie Hynde was the only Yank, but she's far and away the most well-known member so that's a wash to me.

That geographic breakdown is probably right in line with what you would have heard on American radio for much of the rock era beginning with Beatlemania.

Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
Might this be considered " the first" music video?

People are confusing music video for music television. There is a difference

No.  As I mentioned, Benny Hill was five years before.  There were plenty of other specially-shot clips for Top Of The Pops as well.  But Bo Rhap kickstarted the trend as being an artistic thing rather than a basic song illustration.

The Beatles made videos post-Sgt. Pepper. The British "Top of the Pops" show had what would be considered music videos in the 70s. The Monkees had those skits built around their songs.

What about the uncensored version of Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus? Man, that one should have won all the awards for filming and post production because Miley pretty much got completely nude in the video and somehow we never even got the slightest glimpse of his penis. They really must be an amazing crew because I thought for sure his cock was going to start showing up at about the 1:47 mark.

It's hard to narrow it down.

-Technically: Tonight, Tonight by the Smashing Pumpkins and
-Emotionally: No Rain by Blind Melon

btw, a video that scares the shit out of me is Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden.

I never was a fan, but everyone seemed to love Rocket (or was it Rock It) but Herbie Hancock.

AC/DC's 1976 video for "Jailbreak" is all kinds of awesome:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8xScxmekQk

It's funny, it rocks, and it has EXPLOSIONS. "Beavis, this is the greatest video of all time".
