Z-Rock freakin' ruled.

The affiliate here changed formats in around '90 because one of the DJ's played some porn audio - just moaning sounds, no cussing, and people went batshit.

Asia-I never liked YES so that was one strike against them.  The second was listening to them on their own.

What?

I disliked YES immensely.  Then when Howe went over to Asia, I immediately disliked that sound too.

Ahhh I didn't know the two groups were related.

I think GNR and Tesla were the forerunners of MTV Unplugged.  GNR "Lies" was just incredible and really shocked most of us after hearing their first album.

Ya gotta throw Bon Jovi in on the Unplugged thing.  They did an unplugged version of Dead or Alive, that was really popular.  It wasn't long after MTV began the show.

Yup, that show was really all Bon Jovi.  I believe it was on the MTV Music Awards when they did that acoustic performance and people went apeshit, and MTV executives immediately decided they needed an unplugged show.  Bon Jovi back in the day was an awesome band and they still put on a great live show, but their studio albums the last 15 years have been pathetic.  They're the very definition of the term "sold out".  But I guess you can't blame a few guys from Jersey who jumped onto the hairspray bandwagon to orginally make their names for now jumping onto the pop, country, and whatever the fuck else will sell bandwagon.  I wonder how many of the 50 year old Tennessee moms who love their song with Jennifer Nettles realize that their most popular album was named after extremely lurid live sex acts that they saw at a Canadian strip club?  Oh that Jon, he's so cute and innocent.

I'll mention Great White, but I was never a fan of them.

Never a fan of Genesis, in any format.
Phil Collins sucks beyond belief.  I never could understand who he had naked pics of to keep getting his albums released.
Peter Gabriel wrote two songs: "Biko" and "Salisbury Hill" that I can listen to.  That's it.

True....very innovative and one of a kind, especially Selling England and The Lamb. Timeless stuff. Genesis had a few good ones after gabriel left. I like Trick of the Tail, Wind and Wuthering, and Duke. Wind and Wuthering has some really neat songs, mainly due to alot of Hackett's input. A few songs from ...And then there were three and Abacab were decent too. After Abacab, I really wasn't digging anything at all. Though I have to admit that the production on the self titled 83 release was years ahead of it's time.

If you like Gabriel era Genesis, I hope you had a chance to see The Musical Box play. I seen them play the entire Lamb and it was insane. Spot on. Also seen them on the Selling england by the Pound tour and it was equally insane.

I jam old Genesis, Phil Collins' drumming is incredible and Tony Banks is a fucking madman on the keyboard.
