I know there aren't many soccer fans here, but this man was one of the greatest sporting legends of all time. In the argument to the the greatest footballer ever, and undoubtedly in the top 5. The first football event I remember is the 1986 World Cup, and he was head and shoulders above everyone else in that tournament. Scorer of one of the greatest goals ever scored against England in that tournament, and a few minutes later he scored another one that was almost as good.

Only 60 years old, but 40 of them were spent high on cocaine, so probably did well for himself.

RIP Diego

The fact that I even recognized the name must be proof that he was a big deal because I don't know any soccer players other than Pele.

At some point, we'll surely get an English poster here to point out the *ahem* divine help he had in 1986.

Sublime footballer, but a drug-addled cheat, so fuck him.

He'd qualify as one of the best Canada ever produced  but don't believe he could crack that list of 10 , even though it is only my opinion. I would think everybody's top 10 would be different but none would include Lenarduzzi. And hopefully no Beckam.

There are a few other candidates for an all-time top ten. Di Stefano, Puskas, Moore, Matthews. Lev Yashin in goal. But difficult to compare across the years. And impossible to assess anyone before World War 2 (Matthias Sindelaar tends to crop up in these conversations).
