It was the Wahoo-Hennig strap match. Adrian came down and I believe almost cut off Hennig's finger.

I don't recall anyone's finger being cut, just that Adonis was pretty sloppy when he went to cut the strap and almost cut Hennig, but didn't.

Adrian Adonis, assuming he was in much better shape, might have had a chance with WCW in 1989. That promotion was virtually unrecognizable compared to 1985-1988 and there were certainly some people there that you might not have expected to see a year earlier. A WWF return seems unlikely, but you never know. Vince has made up with and taken back so many of the people he fell out with. Adrian was a couple of months shy of turning 35 when he died. He was a good worker right to the end and after the steroid scandal exploded in the early 1990s, the WWF took on a lot of wrestlers that it wouldn't have circa 1989 because they could work and had size that wasn't dependent on steroids. In 1994, Adonis would have been 41 which isn't terribly old by pro wrestler standards.

He made at least one New Japan tour in 1988, during which he and Dick Murdoch reformed their team. However, I am not sure if he would have been in line to get more tours in the future. New Japan stopped booking Murdoch after 1988 and it seemed in 1989 and 1990 that there was a gradual shift from using guys who'd been in the by then dying territories to using younger, big and mean guys like Vader, Bigelow, Doc (who hadn't yet switched to All Japan), and Norton in combination with the Calgary guys like Owen and Benoit, followed by the association with WCW that enabled so many of its guys to tour with NJPW. The rising indy scene in Japan picked up a lot of the older guys, so not all avenues would have been closed to Adrian, but the money wasn't as good as with New Japan and All Japan.

I've seen the video and you can't see a cut after he cuts the strap, but it's been told many times that he cut Hennig doing that. Maybe it's just a myth, but I've seen it said Hennig was cut so often I didn't think anything of it.

Did anyone actually like Adonis other than Piper? You don't hear many nice things said about him.

I was digging though an old box of crap last night and came across comic that a wrestling buddy of mine sent to me back in the 90's.
