Sylvester Stallone announced that he has started writing a prequel to the “Rocky” franchise. He envisions it being a streaming service series, 10 episodes per season. The series will follow a young Rocky Balboa, starting at age 17, and will be set in the mid-‘60s, ideally running for a few seasons and ending in 1976 at the beginning of the events of “Rocky I”. When the movie starts, Rocky is a small-time local fighter working for a loan shark to make ends meat, so there’s an interesting backstory to be explored. Stallone has just started working on this and isn’t sure if anyone will pick it up, but I imagine there will be a lot of interest with the multitude of streaming services out there now.

Rocky is my favorite film. I'm obviously looking forward to it happening.

It'll be interesting how they portray the "lovable Rock" as a thumb breaker for a loan shark.

This is all Stallone has left. Talk about beating something to death.

I enjoyed the "Creed" movies even though I was expecting the first one to suck. Hollywood seems to be running out of ideas and is constantly rebooting movies and TV shows, making sequels/prequels, etc. Most of the times, the reboots and prequels/sequels are dreadful and tarnish the memory of the original. Fortunately, I don't think that has happened to the "Rocky" series yet.

Everyone in Hollywood is doing it, whether it's reboots or remakes of old tv shows, to 20,000 superhero movies, to running franchises into the ground. I hope he squeezes every penny out of it. Seems like a decent dude who kept his head on straight and did well with limited talent. Edit - I didn't see BGF's post before I replied, but he basically said the same thing before me. I respect Sly for bootstrapping the first one 40 years ago and maybe he doesn’t have it in him to do it again, but if he’s personally writing these I for one am willing to give it a shot. He knows this character and he’s still passionate about him.

Everyone shit on Rambo before it was released, and then it was the second best one in the franchise, only behind First Blood. I’m 100% behind him. Also, women weaken legs.

Local meathead gets job as meathead. That of his boss would be more interesting.
