The only match that any American knows him from. I know very little about his career other than this.

That was a fake 3 count, the video just repeated the 2.

Not even Qaenos can scrub that footage into something presentable. Veneno wouldn't leave the country but he wants to be seen as a world champion? The traveling champ formula is every bit as irritating as backyard groups today. The homesteader wrestler of the past gets revered for being legendary just like Veneno, in most every territory. Everyone "could defeat Flair" to become champion; giving credibility to big fish in small ponds blinds some fans from seeing how small time their promotions really were.

Well if Flair called the audible and took the pin, why shouldn't Veneno make it worth everything he could get out of it? Nobody outside of the area knew it happened until many many years later. I have no problem with his claim in his home area at all. This isn't like a screwjob like Don Slatton tried to pull with IIRC Harley Race, and Veneno using it to his financial advantage is absolutely what it was all about for those guys. Good on him.

That's why all your angles in Winnipeg are intriguing. I suspect your national networks' need to carry exclusive Canadian content caused the bookers to have their ideas spun slightly differently like the Adnan/Bockwinkel title matches and later Nick's babyface turn.

Outside of Minny not many places did that, it was easier just to piggyback off of the St. Paul matches and TV angles. Very little arena footage outside of Chicago is out there. the only stuff from Salt Lake and Denver, for example, is stuff shot for Japanese TV.
I think you are correct about the Canadian content laws likely playing a role in Winnipeg doing even their own TV tapings a lot. Adnan-Bock made more sense with Mad Dog Vachon as the ref and then the Sheik-Dog feud happening, as opposed to Baron-Sheik in Minneapolis. Nick's face turn too, borne out of his teaming with Mad Dog, and Zbyszko hating that as I recall.
I watched the Veneno documentary tonight, there is enough English from the one guy (producer of the doc as I recall) to get the gist of the story they are telling. I was hoping the ending would have been intact from the doc but it isn't, same edited in finish. Still it's pretty cool, and you could see how big a deal that title match was to the fans in attendance.

There is some creative leaps taken by the doc producer (saying Veneno volunteered to give the title up only because they feared riots in the street when word got out the NWA wasn't recognizing the title change and Flair was still Champ, for example), but it's not insulting to the intelligence when those claims are made, if that makes sense.
I wish I understood Spanish because most of it is in Spanish, and some of the other talking heads likely had some good insight. The English speaking guy isn't dynamic and that hurts what he's saying some though. But for what I know about it and what I could understand, it was decent.

If you read Harley's book, it seems like this was all a rib by Terry Funk. He probably thought the story would never leave Ailene.

I didn’t read it in harleys book, I can’t remember where I did read it. Pretty funny though.

Alright the audio and video sucked. But the crowd didn't seem THAT out of control. I love the Dominican people dearly, but yes, they can be, slightly temperamental at times. Was Ric really that afraid of what he thought would happen. Also, who did Naitch wrestle the night before? Necro Butcher? Those are some nasty gig marks he had. Jack only wrestled in New York once and did the job for Jose Gonzalez in I believe 1976. I like his look, he looked the way a pro wrestler should look. Was that Teddy Long with Ric in the beginning?
