9/11 2001- I was home ill and awoke to the phone ringing and the TV on. I was trying to think of what movie I woke up to when I answered the phone and my wife at the time told me what happened. The plane crashing into the 2nd Tower was shocking.

Johnny Carson farewell.

Carter and Lucy stabbed on ER Season 6.

The first toilet flush heard on episodic TV on All In The Family.

JFK assassination.

Moon landing in 1969.

MASH finale which I believe was watched by more than half the people who even owned a TV.

Great memory of that one.  Tate literally fell like a ton of bricks.

Season finale of season 4 - Dexter, where Dexter finds his murdered wife in the bathtub.
After all these years I still can't believe they killed her off.

Supposedly there will be a revival of Dexter for one more season. 10 years after it went off the air.

It was a disappointing finale so I hope they give us a better ending this time.

The infamous "Sopranos Ending" in 2005. A big majority initially thought that their feed had been cut.

The TV movie "The Day After" freaked out everybody who watched it (myself included), back in 1983/1984.

I never heard of this until binging the TV series “The Americans”. When I looked it up, it turns out Reagan was even watching and wanted to de-escalate tensions after that movie.
