Iraq. On so many levels. If Bush had concentrated on the war on terrorism
perhaps bin Laden would have been caught/shot by now.
The American economy cannot afford 2 wars. The American dollar is
now weaker than the Canadian dollar & I believe the Euro.
I never thought I'd live to see the day the Canadian buck would
once again be worth more than the US dollar.
Maybe when the Democrats get back in, the economy will see an
upturn. But nothing will replace the loss of so many young Americans
who have died in Iraq.
Just an outsider's thoughts.

The wars have us financially overstretched. With all the money we've spent overseas we could have beefed up security at home, made social security solvent, paid for expanded if not universal health care and developed more fuel-efficient vehicles so we didn't have to buy the technology from Japan.

Iraq is one of many problems.  We're heading towards a recession too, the usually bullish Goldman Sachs puts that risk at 40-45% which means it's really higher than that.  We're not even close to seeing the light at the end of tunnel for the credit crunch or the subprime crisis.  As more banks fail, the overall market will continue to be hit time and again.  When you have Abu Dhabi coming in to save our banks (and Citi was the first of several similar moves I'm sure) and that actually moves a market so desperate for any good news, it's not the best sign.

In just about every conceivable area, socially and economically, this country has regressed to almost comical proportions the last few years.  To even begin to make the claim that this is the "best country in the world" or whatever the yahoos say is beyond ludicrous now.

Maybe not the "best," but certainly the "bad-assest."

The absurd and irrational scapegoating of particular segments of society for all of society's problems.

The complete lack of self-accountability from the executive branch on down to the mother of eleven on the street corner begging for change.

Everybody's problem is caused by someone else, not by their own dumb ass.

You ARE in on it.  Did you miss that pesky little dollar devaluation whilst typing away in your little studio apt?  Your electric bill doubled, your fuel bill doubled and your wages stayed the same.

We cant all be nice dressers like you, Rossi.  Sometimes the laymen hit home on the college kids.

But since yer here, tell me about all the pleasantries shared by the pacific rim folks.

And while were at it, tell me how grand its gonna be when the Brazillian agricultural market opens up the gates full force.

Yeah, I know, the free market system is out to get the little man.  It has a mind of it's own, unlike those friendly politicians who are looking out for you.

Yeah, its the SAME free market system in use pre and post 3/9/33 (new deal era). aint it.   Its not been manipulated in the least, has it.

Surely, you've noticed that number of land owners have  dropped drastically, havent you?  This may come to you as a surprise but the big money employeer folk aren't historically apartment renters.

I have no idea what you're trying to say.  The New Deal was horrible for the free market system.  What's your point?  And what's this talk about renting apartments?  Does anyone here translate Ports to English?
