Didnt have the longest career. Of course he was a college athlete from Florida State.

Broke into Florida when the territory was on it's way downhill.

What did you think of him as WCW World Champion? I was surprised when he won the belt and his level of competition wasn't that great but it did make sense for him to lose to Vader.

Wasnt he supposed to drop the title to Rick Rude at Starrcade but got out of the match? (Fuzzy memory)

Was good in his role as one half of The Acolytes. Comedy at the end just showed up and said "damn" and got a crowd reaction.

i was never impressed with simmons.   the only time that i actually enjoyed him was when he was in DOOM with butch reed.   great athlete that was pushed because he came from football during the watts years. watts tried to make him into his new junkyard dog and it didn't work.  after he left wcw,  he became a mid-carder at best for me.

Truly enjoyed him.  His title reign is one of my favorite reigns ever from anywhere.  Ridiculously underrated, ridiculously underutilized in WWE start to finish.

Love that powerslam - best this side of RW Animal.

I would have liked to have seen him in Kevin Sullivan's "Varsity Club" - good fit for him since they had Rotundo & Steiner (Syracuse) with Dr Death (Oklahoma)

Credible mid-carder, legit tough guy.  Better in tag teams, what he did with Doom and The Acolytes were more enjoyable than his singles runs.  Never should've gotten the World title, especially beating the unbeatable Vader.  His run as Nation of Domination leader was forgettable and that only took off after The Rock took over.

I thought Doug Furnas also had a pretty good Powerslam.

Conversely, I thought Lex Luger's shit the bed.

hell,  luger didn't even know how to work the crowd,  let alone perform any wrestling moves.   he could flex pretty good and that's about it.

Sloppy for my tastes.  Simmons and Animal's were so precision they were practically technical maneuvers.  And so powerful you'd almost never buy a guy kicking out.

Throw Ted Dibiase's in there too. He didn't have the power that the others did, but the "powerslam as technical move" statement doesn't fit anyone better than the Dabussie IMO.

Really like him alot. Had a strong, hard hitting style and came off as credible. His title win over Vader was one of the most emotional responses you'll ever see as far as fan reaction goes.

I also in general liked his work as a tag team wrestler.

I liked his title reign for what it was. The problem was that it seemed like his title matches were never the main event, they were never pushed as being that important.....and it didn't help that his Halloween Havoc opponent was the Barbarian for crying out loud. I liked the Barbarian, but come on.
