Found a newspaper clipping from Lubbock stating that Buddy Colt won the North American Heavyweight Title from Lord Patrick Patterson in Miami in December 1968. Did this match happen?

It was a phantom switch.

Thought so. Was just checking.

Are there any examples from the territories where a title did change hands outside of it's home territory?

That's an interesting question. The one example that comes to mind is Mad Dog Vachon & Butcher Vachon dropping the AWA Tag Team Title to the Von Steigers in Portland right before a Japanese tour. The Vachons regained the belts upon returning from Japan. From what I've heard/read, Verne Gagne had no idea the Vachons did what they did.

Might also count The Dr D/Hector Guerrero AWA Tag Title reign for a week in Memphis.
