I'm sure you have all heard about this. Supposedly the gov was attempting to fill the vacant senate seat of Barack Obama through pay for play tactics. Alleged wire taps have the goods on the governor. Just another in the line of Illinois corruption when it comes to the states governors.

Both the governor and his chief of staff were takin into custody this morning

Obama, by all accounts, has stayed far away from this clown.  Smart move.   Still, he is going to be allowed to appoint someone to the senate seat and will not resign.  What an incredible scum bag.

Blago's on tape cursing Obama for not going along with his scheme. Anyone who thinks this is going to touch Obama is living in dreamland.

Somewhat off topic, but I really have to laugh at anyone who still believes in the fairy tale of a so called "liberal media".  I wish the media had pursued GW's background in the weeks leading up to his inauguration with one-tenth the gusto that they're investigating Obama.  That way, maybe more than a fractional amount of Americans would be aware that he was a former alcoholic and cocaine addict and that his wife was behind the wheel of a car that struck and killed a man.

See also the correlation between "Scandal, Monica Lewinski" and "Scandal, GW Bush and Treason", and examine the amount of media coverage and analysis each one received.

Bad job, media.  Bad job.

The way I see media to be interpreted as "liberal media" when it applies.

Some say that liberals will highlight the doom and gloom to get their points across. You might correlate that to newspapers or TV headlines because "bad news sells."

The only other way is that some newspapers have more liberals as columnists. And in certain cases the media ownership are democrats. So when they say that "all mainstream media is slanted" they look at who is in charge, or on board, and could possibly do the slanting.

It is a pretty weak connection.

The "bad news"/sensationalism sells, did bite B Clinton firmly. In that case, the charge (which is the more correct as I see it) is that "money/sales takes precedence over political slant." These companies are in business to sell papers/ad time etc.

Obama got a ton of mainstream news coverage and magazine covers primarily because his image or story sold issues, not because the magazine itself was pushing a liberal.

Chicago Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., D-Ill., is the anonymous "Senate Candidate No. 5" whose emissaries Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich reportedly offered up to $1 million to name him to the U.S. Senate, federal law enforcement sources tell ABC News...

[sarcasm]I, for one, am shocked and appalled.[/end sarcasm]

You have to love Triple J's line that he "is shocked and appalled."

Reminds me of Claude Raines in Casablanca when he is shocked to find gambling going on in Rick's Cafe and then someone hands him his envelope.

LOL @ my state, our last Governor is in jail right now.

Anyway, Obama has nothing to do with Blago.  Blago wanted to speak at Grant Park on election night and Obama refused.
It's been a matter of time when Blago would be in big trouble, he has had all kinds of mini scandals before this big one.

I've been in Chicago for the past couple days, so I was following this in the local papers. Possibly even more scandalous is Blagojevich's messing around with the Cubs sale. Supposedly he was threatening to withhold Illinois state financing from The Tribune Co. in their bid to sell the Cubs and Wrigley unless they fired certain editorial writers and replaced them with more favorable cronies. The Goat got him.

Also, Blagojevich pisses me off because way back in the day he pledged to work to end toll roads. Instead they were souped up. Damn it.

Question that doesn't matter one iota, but is Blago wearing a wig?  I've heard mixed reports on this.  If it's not a wig, then he needs to shell out the extra five bucks and get a grownup's haircut.

I'm not actually convinced that Jesse Jr. did anything wrong. Blago's a liar and a crook, except when he's naming Jesse Jr., and then he's a reliable witness?

I have no doubt Jesse Jr. made it known he wanted the seat. He even said as much publicly. But that's different from offering cash for it. Just because Blago said so doesn't make it so.

Nah, he's probably just a Beatles nut. Wojo made a reference in his latest column on ESPN.com
