This one is close. In the context of "The 1970s" and the "McMahon" bracket you have to take Backlund. These guys had great matches though.

Would have voted for Pat only Srossi pointed out that Backlund won the Missouri title from Harley Race in 1976 so Bob did make a (mini) splash before 1978.

This one is real tough but I'll go with Pat. He was just a big a star in San Fran as Bob was in NY and for at least the same amount of time if not a little longer. Pat was a GREAT worker well into his 40's and a gentleman too boot. At the bar he was always offering to push someones stool in for them.
