Yet another chance to show the world how smart you are. Someone is going to cleanup on this site if they can forecast deaths, guess RAW ratings and pick football games correctly.

This is how the pool will work.

1. Anyone wanting to participate may do so. Picks must be in before opening kickoff the first playoff game of the weekend

2. Picks will be made straight-up AND vs the pointspread. Participant will receive one point for each correct slection.

3. Wildcard round picks will be made in this thread.

4. At the end of the playoffs (and including the Super Bowl) whoever has the most correct picks wins.

5. In the event of a tie, the tie-breaker will be whoever forecasts the Super Bowl score the closest. It is not necessary to sumbit a forecasted final score for any other game.

6. The overall winner gets a DVD from Khawk's collection - which is the BEST wrestling DVD collection (bar none) on the internet. Picks will be logged once the opening kickoff of the first playoff game starts, so please no editing after that time.

Since picks are made both straight up and vs the spread, these are the opening numbers. I will post the Tennessee at San Diego number whenever I get it. Here are the other numbers for you to chew on a bit.

NFC

Washington At Seattle (3.5)

NY Giants At Tampa Bay (3)

AFC

Jacksonville (1) At Pittsburgh

I'll start:
Washington at Seattle (3.5) - Seattle, both points and straight up.
Giants at Tampa Bay (3) - Tampa Bay, both points and straight up.
Jacksonville (1) at Pittsburgh - Jax, both points and straight up.
Tennessee at San Diego (8.5) - Titans with points, Chargers straight up. Closer than people think.

I read Jacksonville is now -1.5 over Pittsburgh and Tampa is now -2.5 over the Giants. What are we using for a final point spread? Are we sticking with the opening line or adjusting right up until game time?

Just curious. Here's my picks (with the adjusted line--The picks won't change if the line ends up changing  or if we go with the initial lines for clarity in handing out points):

Washington at Seattle (3.5): Point Spread: Washington, Straight up--Washington

Giants at Tampa Bay (2.5): Point spread: Tampa, Straight up--Tampa

Jacksonville (1.5) at Pittsburgh: Point spread: Pittsburgh, Straight up--Pittsburgh

Tennessee at San Diego (8.5): Point spread: Tennessee, Straight up--San Diego

Just use the opening line from the Las Vegas Hilton. The problem with using the closing line is that one guy claims a game went to +6 at one sportsbook while another guy finds a sports book that had it at -4 on a 24-19 game.

My picks - gonna walk the line a bit

Washington at Seattle SU: Seattle ATS: Washington

NY Giants at Tampa Bay SU: Tampa Bay ATS: NY Giants

Jags at Pittsburgh SU Jags ATS: Steelers

Titans at San Diego SU & ATS : San Diego

Edited 1 pm Saturday to take Steelers plus points but Jags straight up. Yes I nknow Jags are one point faves, I consider the game a coin flip. Basically hedging.

Or maybe not.You could go 8-0 this week.
This weeks picks IMO are very difficult with the wider point spreads.I'm really struggling with the Dallas/NY Giants game and the point spread on the New England/Jacksonville game.I gotta think about this weeks picks or maybe just flip a coin and be done with it.

Seattle at Green Bay (8)- Green Bay to win, Seattle to cover

NY Giants at Dallas (7 1/2)- Cowboys win, Giants cover

Jacksonville at New England (12)- Pats win, Pats cover

San Diego at Indy (8)- Colts win, Colts cover

I think the AFC games are romps. I don't have a feeling at all on the NFC games so I'm hedging my bets.

NYG vs. GB: Spread = Giants, Straight-up = Giants.

SD vs. NE: Spread = NE, Straight up = NE.

Do I really think the Giants will win? Probably not, but I must admit to being intrigued at a Giants-Patriots matchup in the hope of "Bad Eli" showing up. We could see a 70-0 game if that happens.

I'm probably going to be too drunk to care if the Super Bowl is actually a good game or not.

Tough weekend for most of us, below are the final standings and Super Bowl odds - if you are COOKIE, OMG65, BEEJMI or LOBO316 please PM your Super Bowl pick to QUATTRO between now and next Sunday night. Quattro will post them once he has them from the contestants that are still mathematically alive.

Your final pick should incluse the straightup Super Bowl winner, the winner vs the spread and (tie breaker) the final score. If you forecast "Team A" to win 38-20 and the final is "Team A" winning 21-17, then you would be off by 20 points in this example. As it stands currently Cookie and OMG65 are tied for the lead.

Well I picked the Pats 28-20. I think it will be "a game" but I think the Pats winning 55-14 is more likely than the Giants taking them out. I just don't see an outright upset possibility because of the huge advantages the Pats have at QB and in coaching. Didn't go with the blowout as my pick because the Pats are tsarting to roun out of gas a bit. I think they "peaked" around week eleven.

Wondering what other's picks are and were and why.

Definitely something fishy and one can pretty much bank on that when Quattro is involved.

Obvious to me that the plan was BOTH of the final two guys to "win" and draw a DVD from Khawk which in turn would be copied and sent to Quattro. Classic example of him looking out for himself. ABUSE OF POWER.

Obvious to me that the plan was BOTH of the final two guys to "win" and draw a DVD from Khawk which in turn would be copied and sent to Quattro. Classic example of him looking out for himself. ABUSE OF POWER.

All khawk will probably give up is some AWA shit with Crusher "Fatass" Blackwell.  Who'd want that crap?

Cookie and OMG65 have both ended with 15 points and the win. Congrats to both. Go ahead and PM Khawk about your DVD win and thanks for playing along, it was fun reading everyone's picks

Well both Cookie and OMG65 get prizes (thanks Khawk) - But I have a challenge for these two champions to break the tie, that is if they aren't too chicken to answer my challenge.

Fuck BJ, you guys won fair and square.

Of course you could use the Pro Bowl to determine the outcome

Quattro touched on it. PM me (Cookie and OMG65) your pick

AFC (3) vs NFC

One point for the straightup winner, one point for the winner vs the spread

Pick the score as well in case somehow you two go in the same direction on the pick (there is actually a long-standing pattern that happens with this game)

OMG65

AFC SU & ATS AFC 27-20

COOKIE

AFC SU & ATS AFC 38-28

I mentioned that there is a "long standing pattern" with this game and the pattern is this. The conference that loses the Super Bowl straightup, covers the spread in this game. I had read that the pattern was 15-2 a few years ago and every year that I know of since it has worked.  I believe (memory0 that the NFC covered last year but with points. Odd that some players do actually get motivated for this thing.

So much for the "long tsanding pattern" and both our experts had the AFC here and it didn't pan out. Cookie actually was closer to the final score (which was 42-30 NFC) being 22 points off while OMG65 was 25 points off.
