Maybe "groundbreaking events" is the wrong word -- but I am looking to compile a list of major happenings that changed wrestling (for better or worse)

For example: Hogan beating The Iron Sheik was one. You might even trace that actually back to The Iron Sheik beating Backlund. But either way, a new era was ushered in.

Another one: Hogan's bad guy turn. Just historic and changed things for awhile and notbale because of Hogan's long term good guy run.

Obviously the Montreal Screwjob, which wound up creating the Mr. McMahon character and single-handedly turned the tide of the Monday night Wars almost over night.

Fingerpoke of Doom. By coincidence, I was coverting it to DVD just a few minutes ago.

About a week or two later, Tony Schiavone comments about asses in seats in reference to Mick Foley winning the title.

Dusty Rhodes turning good changed what wrestling was. But I don't see his title wins/reigns as being anything that changed "the sport".

Bruno beating Buddy Rogers.

Somewhere in there is a "Flair" moment that changed wrestling, but for the life of me I can't think of one. Winning his first world title? Perhaps, but I am not sure that changed the course of history all that much.

The combination of the match with Steamboat in Nashville with the immediate face turn with the Funk angle. That was an outstanding moment. The problem Flair has is that we expect such excellence that they are all good and dont JUMP out as a lot of others do. THat one leaps to mind as the one I think most fits what your looking for
