Louis Laurence has been sharing a ton of rare photos and newspaper clips from his travels with Superstars of Wrestling, especially from the Newfoundland summer tours. Just 10 days ago, he shared a newspaper write-up on a card for Marystown, NL that drew 1,500 (for a town of just 5,000). The full clip is available on the group, which you can request to join at this link (George Cannon's Superstars of Wrestling). I won't copy and paste Louis' stuff, so I'll just transcribe the results and other pertinent info. In the summer of 1975, a promotion ran through Newfoundland with the main feud being Sailor White & Kurt Von Hess against Karl Von Shotz and Billy Two Rivers. Was this associated with Cannon?

Hey WrestleTom, I can confirm that George Cannon was involved with the group that ran Newfoundland in 1975. That promotion was the Universal Wrestling Alliance (UWA), which was formed as an opposition group by Karl Von Shotz, Killer Tim Brooks, Tony Marino, & Jack Cain to the Sheik's Detroit office. On my Facebook group, Dave Drason said that UWA TV tapings were done at the University of Windsor in Ontario, and that Cannon took over the group that year to form Superstars. Interesting factoid about the UWA is that it was the first promotion for which Milt Avruskin did commentary. Do you have any results for that '75 Newfoundland tour? You are certainly welcome to post those or any UWA results/line-ups in this thread.

Unfortunately no results, and can't find any Ads for the cards. In the fall of 1975, Von Shotz ran small shows in Newfoundland against Tony Marino. There was also The Assassin and John Boy. Jack Cain was also around for those shows. They promoted in St. John's at the CLB Armoury and I attended a few cards. These shows were taped for TV on local channel CJON.
