For Defense, it's a no-brainer for this Giants fan: The greatest LB and defensive player in history-Lawrence Taylor.

For Offense, I have always been a huge John Elway fan.  He's still my all-time favorite offensive player.  I just watched him in a stupid Madden 2010 Pro-Am flag football tourney and he just fires the ball effortlessly.  I bet if you gave him some blocking, he'd still be able to play in the NFL.

So, who are your favorites?

I agree with Rich.

Butkus was a middle linebacker not a glorified Defensive End like Lawrence Taylor.

A Lions fan whose favorite player is a Bear? Next you'll claim you're a Tiger fan but like Jeter, or a Piston fan who likes LeBron, or worse yet a Red Wing fan who likes Sakic.

That could never happen.

Jeter is from Kalamazoo Michigan and is a big Michigan fan. You've seen him on the sideline during games.
