That was one backwards ass match. Orton as a face is just wrong, and Gabriel is a classic white meat babyface.

I have to believe that they are planning on turning Gabriel ASAP.

You are correct about that. I remember when Orton turned face the first time. Turning a hated heel face doesn't always work. It doesn't with Orton. Not everyone can become Steve Austin or The Rock by turning face.

The problem is he doesn't have credible heels to work with. No one can appear tougher, meaner, nastier, or more ruthless than he does.

I can't think of one person who can make him a Ricky Morton.

Thats McMahon's fault

I don't know, I don't think that he is a baby, he's more of an Austin face... does what he wants when he wants but doesn't overly pander to the crowd, but the crowd just gets behind him. Cena panders and gets booed as a result, Orton doesn't really do anything different now than he did 6 months ago and is getting cheered.

I agree, at least with the first 2 statements.  Don't let Stingmark hear you talk about HHH. :D

That whole time that Legacy was winding down, and they wanted to turn Ted DiBiiase face, they couldn't because this ground swell of support for Orton was happening among the fans.  They had to turn Orton face.

They wanted Orton to be the more ruthless babyface like Austin to get the guys cheering for at least one of their main eventers.  I just don't think he pulls it off nearly as well.  I'll admit that he sold great on the botched 450 though.  I thought he was really hurt again and that Gabriel was heading for TNA.

i thought he sold it well until he got up immediately lifted his shoulder and rko'd him and then didn't favor the shoulder again in the post-match celebration..
