60 day vacation starting today due to his second strike. Considering how he was rubbing some folks (probably Vince) the wrong way by having the gall to demand the same main eventer perks as others who've put in the time and drawn the money he has, it seems hard to believe  this wasn't some kind of "we'll fix this guy's wagon" type of bullshit retaliation.

After all, it's not like it hasn't been obvious Rey's been on the gas since his WCW days at least. His HGH gut has practically been a meme for years.

Was he even going to be healthy enough to wrestle in the next 60 days?  It's been so long since he's been on TV I forget he was even still around.

It seems like that He basically gets paid to sit on His Ass and recover from various injuries. They should just really cut ties with Him and put the Money somewhere else.

Rey has a vital value to the company in Mexico although the emergence of Alberto Del Rio and to an extent Sin Cara have spread that value around somewhat.

Rey also used to have great value as a featured player on Smackdown when it was on free to air TV via UPN, CW, and then MyNetwork. To be blunt, Latinos don't subscribe to cable or satellite in numbers as great as other demographics, so their viewership of Smackdown was disproportionately large, especially when Eddie Guerrero and then Rey Mysterio were in featured spots. When Rey went to Raw for a while, the Smackdown numbers faltered enough in that demographic and overall that he was moved back to stabilize the ratings. When Smackdown moved to SyFy, its Latino demographic plunged and never recovered.

I never liked that little Mexican jumping bean but really began to hate him with a passion when he started the " I'm doing it for Eddie " angle.

Gotta agree Bob, why they put the wt on him is a mystery

It's like Tamalie stated, he was a big draw on Smackdown and it's ratings, and for the most part  when he defended the title, it was for that show. He also sells a lot  of those masks to little kids at like 40-50 bucks a pop.

I wouldn't watch a foreign wrestling promotion just because they had an English guy doing well in it, so I'm a bit surprised Mexicans have such a hard-on for guys doing well in the WWE.
